Chris and I started the new year on a patch of ground I hadn't been to for quite some time and Chris never had. In fact, the last time I hunted it with another fellow club member good targets were few and far between. However, most coins were of the older varieties and the same held true this morning. Besides what's shown, and trash, I only dug 1 Memorial cent and 1 clad quarter.
We started out at first light and my second dug target was the no date Standing Liberty quarter. It locked on a solid 86 and was 5" deep. I was expecting a clad quarter and was shocked to see silver when I located it with the pin pointer in the clod. The sterling pin came a little bit later and being small only read 78-79. It is marked genuine Cloisonne sterling. Towards the end of our hunt I recovered the I H cent, a well traveled 1889. Along the way I dug 7 wheat cents, 13d, 36, 19s 19, 25, 37 and a ?. Not many targets, but a silver is always good and I love finding I H's as much as a silver dime. Happy New Year all. HH jim tn
