New XP DEUS finds

I just received my new Deus two days ago so I am a total novice with this machine. After reading the manual I took it yesterday to the site of an old Church that dates back to the mid 1800's and a site that has been absolutely pounded by me and many others for years. I haven't found any keepers there in my previous three trips, but with the Deus my luck changed. I found two nickels.......a very worn Buffalo nickel (date unreadable) and a 1943 War Nickel. I also found a drop .52 minni ball, a small round ball, two rimfire pistol cartridges (35 caliber ?), and a thimble. I know the old adage, "even blind hogs find some acorns", but I have been over this place with my Explorer, F- 75 LTD, and other machines many times. I think the very fast response time on the Deus was the reason I was able to pick this stuff out of the trash. I just got the Andy Sabisch book, The DEUS Handbook, in last night and look forward to getting some real tips on this machine. So far, I am impressed.

Oh yeah! I'm in the same boat....Taking my new Deus to the dry spots my buds and I have pounded with ever other machine out there and still finding relics. After only a few outings, I sold my F75LTD. I'm hooked on the Deus and it only gets better the more you use it. Andy's book will definitely help. I'm also curious what settings you're using.

UPS brought it Monday night at 7:00 and I unpacked and charged it and took it out on Tuesday. I started with the 'BASIC' program with a few tweeks. This old Church/School has a huge amount of trash and I did not like the clipped sounds I was getting so I changed Reactivity to 1.......Disc 10.......Iron 1.......Frequency 12khz........Silencer 2...........I used 'Pumping' to GB in several places and after getting a good average I switched to 'Manual' and used the average. I'm sure I will make many changes after I use the Deus a few more times.
