Has any body got hold of the new X12 yet. Just wondering if there is any difference in wieght. from the stock 10 coil.

field testers. The coil doesn't get shipped out for another week or so.But,I have talked to one of the field testers and he says it is lighter than the stock coil.Says it will be a damn good coil to have.

what kind of a link to the new 12 inch coil and what would it be good for that the new 8 inch wouldnot do???? tks jim pres pikes peak dowsing ass.

Jim,
What I was told from one of the field testers was that it is real good at locking on to coin signals with trash. If it locked on coin,he said it was. That,IMO,is great for a big coil.He found a 12 1/2" seated dime with it while field testing it,but he is not sure that it will go any deeper than the stock coil, for what little time he used it.He said it was very light, felt like he had a joey coil on.That and the fact that it has just that much more ground coverage makes it sound like it will be a winner in my book!
As far as the 8",I think that would be an apples/oranges kind of comparison. You would still want to use an 8" for heavy garbage,I would think.I am sure the 12" will have the depth advantage over the 8"It will probably boil down to personal preference.

rick: thanks, i wonder what part of the country he was in and also what mode ? we have a lot of minerals and other stuff here in colo. wonder how much money the new coil will be 200.? any way thanks. its very, very cold here today in colo. spgs. today. tks....

He is in St. Louis and he hunts with 10 gain and 32 auto sens. and iron mask -8 with the stock coil.I would assume he used the same settings with the prototype coil.
34 degrees here today with a steady 15 MPH wind.I hunted a while, got a little cold, didn't wear warm enough clothes.

Rick, thanks, what do you think we should hunt in with the new 8 inch in advance smart,?? born in a town SW of St louis, Joplin.been in the springs for 32 yrs. tks in advance, as you can tell we dont know what we are doing???Ha

sorry, last message to Ric, and question wanted to know what setting on the 8 inch to hunt????tks

I just recently got the minelab 7 1/4" I have only ever used the 10 1/2" and it is still my favorite. But,I am pretty sure most people using the Stealth 8" first off, bump the gain up to 7 and run as much Sens as they can, around here all my buddies run 32 Auto that use the Stealth, but I think Jim runs Manual 22-28 whatever setting gets him a threshold most of the time.He also uses Iron mask -14 and Ferrous tones in his heavy iron infested sites.I believe he still uses Iron mask in his non-iron infested sites, just not as much, around -8 -10.My buddy BiLL uses Iron mask -8 and a combination of the smartfind and digital screens,he switches back and forth to compare.Gives him a little more info on the iffys.Pretty sure they both use normal audio.I use audio 1,I just like it.Jim maxes out his Varibility also.I max my Varibility and my limits. My Detector sounds like a Drunken Monkey on a Xylophone.
Pretty much I have been just switching coils when I use the small one,I leave all my settings the same,Gain 7,32 Auto,Audio 1,Varibility and Limits maxed, iron mask -10,Deep.I also set my threshold tone down to the lowest setting.I do run Manual sens when I can,but if I can't keep a threshold at 22 manual I will use Auto 32.I like to use manual 24-28 when I can,but that isn't often.
I hope they jump in and correct me if I am wrong, but I think that is pretty close.
Pretty much it boils down to Experiment with what settings work best for you in your area. The Explorer is such a different animal and has so many possible settings, that it would be hard to pick up someones elses Explorer and use it.You really can personalize the Explorer to you. That is why I love it!

thanks,Ric for taking the timeto answer Jim in upstate new york, does he have anything to add??? us old farts here in Colo. Spgs. are freezin to death today wind chill _0 up in the mountains =30 ths. do you think the 12' will really add any depth????? Jim
