NEW WHITES MACHINE

have not heard of such!..maybe someone can enlighten us!

I believe it is called the TI ( could be wrong about that....it's hell getting old....) and I saw one today at Berringer's detectors in Dalton, Ohio. They just got it in Friday, August 8. It is flat black and I had a chance to play with it for only a few minutes.

I love the locked power switch and the balance of the machine. It was very, very sensitive and seemed to be very well built. There will be two versions. One is a non submersible version (the coil is waterproof) and then soon a totally submersible version. Very light, I think it weighs around 3 and a half pounds. (could be wrong...but it is not over 4 lbs.)

The price was $1595. Every control on the machine is knobs and switches. Neat little three row LED's at right on box to indicate power and detection.

It did air test well with it surpassing the Explorer SE pro on the air test. Did not have a chance to ground test it.

The sound the TI makes for ferrous metal is different than non ferrous and that alone is a tremendous plus for a PI machine.

It is a sound machine, no screen. I liked what I have seen so far. I am going to wait for the submersible version because I like to water detect.

!will wait for additional information with breathless anticipation!....thanks!

Its the new White's PI machine and its label is TDI (not sure what that stands for). I saw one in operation last March at the Digging in Virginia IX. If that is indeed the weight, they must have come up with some changes, because the one I saw weighed more than an MXT. I guess I have something to aspire to then, as it was the best machine for the real, real bad VA dirt. I understand it also gets decent depth in good dirt too, but not much more than a top of the line VLF.

There is a new unit called the PulseScan TDI. Initially there were 200 hand built units made and because of it's sophistication the owners manual was a work in progress. The MSRP is $1595.95. This unit is NOT a VLF unit and thus should not be compared to one. This unit does not operate like a VLF detector and so typical VLF thinking cannot be applied. We had one customer who was thoroughly confused as he had only used VLF units. He kept trying to apply VLF thinking, after a few conversations he realized that he had to change his way of thinking in regards to how a target reponds with the TDI, which is not the same as a VLF unit. We do not know exactly when they will be in full production. My advise - periodically check the White's website.

The other unit is a high end Prizm that is NOT yet in production. They are still in the process of field testing a prototype.
Right now it is being called the Prizm 6T but that may change. Just remember that it is not in production yet and thus if it does not meet the exacting standards that is White's, it won't be released until it does. Since testing it, there have already been updates and there may be more before the final version is put into production. I know it sucks but I'm going to try and be patient because I want my hands on one!

 Oh no,...not another Prism! Surely they can do better than that! :ranting: Aren't they hearing all the requests for a brand new VLF machine? Something new and refreshing would be nice. Not another M6 whatever or Prism whatever. Something with good looks, a traditional "Whites" name, and the great Whites performance we have seen in the past. I really miss the good old days when we had the Classics and Spectrums and Eagles. :nopity: But alas, I guess us old school guys will have to just do the best with the new "toys" they give us whether they are called prism, matrix, v chip, pimp daddy or whatever. And if they come in bright yellow, orange, or purple I guess that's cool too, huh? These companies do not realize that the majority of us are middle aged. We like plain colors. We like solid looking machines. We like quality. It does really matter what the "name" of the machine is too because we take pride in our equipment. That's one reason the "Quantums" were so unpopular. That "Q" sound is not cool. It's all psychological. Just ask any good advertising executive. You have to get into the mind of the average detectorist. One way is to read these forums. I don't think I am alone in my viewpoints. What do you all think?

Good basic colours would be the ticket. I like black their using now but Royal Blue ,Burgundy ,Brown, Grey,,with some slight bright colour trim
could be nice.

pimp daddy?..KOOL!....sheer marketing genius!...it's like what "johnny depp" said!..."i like it!..simple!..easy to remember!"

Hey reddirtfisher, I think what they need to do is come up with a detector that has some mystique to it, that way even if it isn't any better than what we have at least it will confuse us enough that we will want to buy it:stars:. I still can't believe they discontinued the XL-Pro, maybe they didn't sell enough of them to keep them current. Still, they could have added features to it like a choice between 2 or 4 filters, tones and notch.....something about that analog meter that I liked a lot. I guess we will have to see how this Prism turns out.

We do listen to our customer base and take into consideration all that they are asking for and comments like these and others are forwarded to the White's team. Your comments are not being ignored or pushed aside.

I wouldn't call this unit just another "Prizm". They have added several features to this unit, that from what I've read on this and other forums, customers have been asking for. One feature is stability in/near wet sand and salt water, another is added discrimination capability, and large easy to read VDI numbers. Just keep in mind that we only looked at a prototype so they may add/change some features.

hello!..may i ask!.. are you a white's representative?..thanks!

 Hey Steve, I agree with you about the XL Pro. That machine was a real favorite among detectorists. I wish they hadn't discontinued the popular IDX Pro. I would have liked to have seen the IDX Pro re-done with more featues added like depth indicator, tone ID, backlight, etc. I think it would have been a big seller. But I agree with you also about the new Prism....we will just have to wait and see................

I do agree that White's needs to come out with a "New" all around unit and hopefully, this new Prizm, if it is released will be just that. Believe me, we receive calls all the time from customers and dealers looking for XL Pro's, IDX Pro's, 6000's and 5900's. Customers that have these units swear by them. When customers do call and they have one of these units and are looking for something else, I inform them about how people are always looking for these units. They usually tend to change their mind.

thanks for that important revelation!..as a whites user for many years,i have to wonder why doesn't whitey attempt to bring another all around unit to market?..i am talking (v.l.f!) here, and try to stay competitive with current technology!..somewhat disappointed at this stage, and have gone fisher!.(f-75!)

I built the biggest Whites forum in the UK and Europe and at one point had over 1000 members but due to the lack of new technology It died a death. people got fed up waiting!! A lot of die hard whites users lost!!! I also offered in 2003-4 at the height of the forum to do a field report for the MXT and was told no someone is doing it.........................its still blank on the UK whites site!!!! I have offered to do a test on the TDI when out in the UK as I used the infinium for a year land and beach so we will see !!!

Sorry for the gripe but Whites detectors are the finest built............please don't go down the prizm design for the new one!!!

I'd Be Interested in a Prism Machine, If it has features like depth, accurate VDI, and able to handle different ground conditions . Isn't that what the consumer wants in a coin/ jewelery machine? How about a cast aluminum control box for another $35. the 950 loop is great just give us a circuit with more power and a way to keep the noise low.

another (v.l.f?)..hope they are workin' on somethin' besides the pulse!..give us another super trash picker!
