hey guys.looking for some honest imput on newer and older machines.my first machine was 1236x2..liked it..sold it and went threw a few garrett's (tid's).great machines but couldn't keep my eyes off the screen's (that's what they are there for.right?)ended up going back to a 1236x2 and stayed..along the way i now run a 1266x,,tejon and a compadre..love all these machines and decided a long time ago that these beep and dig machines are the ones for me..(i think) i know my machines pretty well, but i'm always eyeballing that f75...and wonder if i would have a great advantage with the f75 over the ones i have..it has just about every feature a guy could want..i guess what i'm asking you is if you take the same man.Gave him an f75 and a 1270.he ran both machines for a couple years and learned them the same.do ya think there would be any advantage either way..thanks..

well here's the thing as often as i wondered running a f-75 and never had one, the closest thing i got it was omega 8000 but i have found over the years i get better finds with the beep and dig and i ran a 1270 and got some of my best finds with it, i think it all depends on how much time you want to put into a machine and learn it because if you can learn both then you do have a major advantage i know depth wise the 1270 will go toe to toe with the standard f-75 the man to ask this question would be shooter he does have both and love both machines

"he ran both machines for a couple years and learned them the same. do ya think there would be any advantage either way?"

One 'advantage' would be for the other consumers who would be interested in the person's in-depth descriptions of what he/she had learned during that span. Certainly there would be questions such as:

In two years did you split the use-time evenly between the two detectors?

If so, which of the two did you prefer, and why?

If you favored one over the other most of the two years, what were the reasons?

If you used one of the two about 75% of the time, why would you even care to use the other for the 25% balance of time?

Which search coils did you use on each model, and what did you think of them?

What types of sites did you hunt?

Which model features seemed to be the most beneficial when using that model?

Did not having a display cause a problem in results?

Did using the F75 display seem to benefit you in any way?

How much did you rely on the visual display of the F75?

Ignoring any visual display, which model provided the better overall audio response?

By the time the user compared their own use and results over a two year period, and once they answered these typical questions that an active hobbyist might have, then you (and the user) would know what 'advantages' there might be.

I am sure that if it was a stranger to the hobby and they were just trying to learn how to use these detectors and where-to and how-to hunt, some would really like the simplicity of the 1270. Most manufacturer have gravitated to making visual display model either exclusively, or almost. The exception here in the USA would the the Tesoro brand. Over time they got a good following behind them, and up until maybe 10-15 years ago it seems they still drew a much better percentage of users. Their attempts to compete with a Target ID model have basically been quite terrible in performance, but their non-display model have been somewhat popular ... before.

After two years I think most users would have grown to prefer the F-75. partly due to the visual display, but also due to the difference in adjustment functions, the Tone ID choices, automated GB and manual GB, and other newer features.

Currently you have a Fisher 1266-X, and a Tesoro Tej

I have both old and new detectors and if I knew what I know now and if a thief came into my house and lived long enough to make off with all my detectors, I would replace the 1270.

Replace it with what?

Sorry, I cut that post a little short didn't I, what I would do is if I lost all my detectors I would get another 1270 and not replace any of the others. The way I kind of see it is the 1270 will just about do anything I need it to do.

Agree 100% Ron I'd get the 1270 all over again, super stable, multi-combo setup and she goes real deep with all her size coils, had offers on my 1270 and 1265X but turned them down, to good to get rid of.
