New Video with the New Software..

Gonehunting

New member
We went out thursday afternoon and hunted into the night. I found a couple of mercs and several wheats. I just got the new video software for filming my hunts and used that hunt to try it out. I see a couple of things I will change.. but really think this is how I want the vids to look... let me know what you think...

Really Really Good :clapping:

The volume was right on and I luv the music, very Dramatic

I once found a Merc on top of the ground, I was thrilled but I assumed it was dropped by someone detecting when he threw out his garbage
It was found near a Garbage Can and this small park was known to have people detecting in it often due to it's age

Do you and friends do alot of sidewalk detecting? How does that go in regards to your area laws and neighbors?

Looking forward to your future Video's

Regards and HH

This is a lot better than someone filming a coin laying on top of a dug plug with a few comments. I think people want to hear the sounds and see the digs too. Good job.

where I am the city owns from the street to the sidewalk. 90% of the time I will ask if the landowner, as kind of a courtesy, Some people do not know about the city's owner ship, and I don't want detectorist getting a bad name over something as simple as just getting permission. Most of the time its no problem, and for the ones that say no, probably better I wasn't in front of their house anyway,, some are real pieces of work.
In fact Sunday we were in Durant, I have hunted most of the Older homes in the town. I did find several that were untouched on main street. So before the rain hit I went door knocking. At the first I talked to man that opened the door, told him who I was and what I knew about the house, he volunteered a lot of info about the residence and was welcoming. He said just wait till my wife gets home and you can ask her. Well I waited and she got home. I waited for her to get settled and knocked on the door.. lol She answered the door with "my husband told me what you would like to do and I don't think I do..." I thanked her for her time and moved on.. Well next door was a vacant lot that had a real estate agent I knew, called him and got on it. 40 mins later the police show up. I told them I had permission and he took my name. he left. His officer of the day showed up and I actually knew him, he said lol the lady said she told you no and this land "USED' to be her's and she didnt want you here, the officer then said "I told her that, that wasn't how it worked" He politely told her that I had gotten permission from the current owner and not to call 911 unless she had a real emergency. Just out of courtesy and to avoid and issue with this dingbat we left...

Great video, Like Bill said and how he does in his videos, the full digs are the best. They have helped me get to know my etrac and It puts the viewer right there with the excitement of finding out what you found. Just subscribed to your videos. Great job. Dan

Great video. What make and model of video camera are you using? I've been thinking of buying one to video some of my hunts (been saving up all my clads and nickels to pay for it). About 6 months ago I found a 1919 wheatie on top of the ground next to a tree (are the tree roots pushing the coins out of the ground? just kidding). Also found a mercury dime lying on the sidewalk while walking into a submarine sandwich shop in Tulsa years ago. It's fun finding silver with or without a metal detector!

I have two different cameras. My daytime camera is the Kodak Zx5 its about the size of a cell phone. Its limited on the zoom feature and only records in 2 channel for sound. It does have a macro and can take some very good close ups. My standby and night camera is the Sony DVD-DCR810. It has night shot plus which allows the IR filming. The video software is the Sony Vegas Movie Maker Production Suit Platinum 11.. Its a lot to learn for a beginner. I started out with the Windows Movie Maker that came with my computer.. Hope this helps...

Allot of cool info and story, I too have experienced with folks. Sometimes I wonder if people look for opportunities like this to drum up drama. For instance " hunted the same park with permit for three years and on fourth year, was subject to a police questioning and search four times in one day by locals that thought I was digging massive holes and defacing a historic site". I politely showed the officers the previous dig sites and they replied with " where ?"

Thx for post and awesome vids,

Moose

This "Lady" is the nightmare for all of us!

In NYS, the local city owns the sidewalk also

I would do sidewalks but as according to your experience I dread the conflict
However, i know the Law in NYS, believe it or not it is under the Public Health Law
One of my token expressions lately is "I Hate People", but not individuals
Just the people who leave their shopping carts out to Ding your car, spit chewing gum on the floor to stick to your shoes
and the ones who have no business telling you Not To Dig!!!!

We were at a large local Park detecting and a local police officer was making rounds in his cruiser
He saw us and made a screechy turn around after moving to several locations viewing our progress

I am usually approached, female and short equals nonthreatening

It turned out that Officer Dan had a detector and did not know how to use it :)

I gave him my cell and suggested he call and I would meet up with him and assist as best I could
He said he had a dial detector but I said we can work with it!

Regards

lol funny you mention that. The officer asked me if I knew Officer Chaney "cause he likes digging with one of those machines?" I laughed and said yes I recommend his detector.. Xterra 705, and we detect when he is on days.. He apologized for the inconvenience. I told him no problem.....

I am really liking the new software. The videos are coming out way more polished. Keep up the good work buddy!
