New Video: Coinshooting with the F70 :twodetecting:

This is nothing major in the technical dept......just a short hunt in my neighbors yard that was once an old mill. Kinda like just showing a child how its done, and that a kid can succeed with the F70 presets. It's very trashy, but we just isolated & dug repeatable targets. Check out his reaction.....it's classic & reminds me of me at his age.....

I plan on taking the F70 to that last cellar hole we found for some more in-depth testing. Maybe do some side by sides with my pals T2, slow mode, all metal & stuff like that. It will be the only detector I take into the woods this weekend, up against a T2 so you can tell I feel the F70 will hold it's own.
Enjoy,
Bill

Good job teaching the young man and especially letting him keep the finds. I think that you may have just hooked him!! I enjoy these types of videos, thanks Bill!! Keep'em coming!!

:clapping:Thanks you very much..nice vid and its good to here his excitement..

Nice to share your love for the hobby with yet another generation. Really cool! I do have a question on the TID numbers and tones...... I noticed that the Mercury dime TID bounced around from the upper 60's to the low 90's when you were Xing over it. The tone on the dime also went from a high tone in the ground, to a medium tone after the hole was dug. I understand how the tone might change when uncovered. But will that amount of TID fluctuation be typical on a buried coin, with the F70?

Again, thanks for sharing. HH Randy

very interesting!..bill!..love those old yards!

nice :clap:vid

best line though was "lets put this stuff back before my mom comes out"
nothing like detecting with kids:twodetecting:

Looks like a great yard to hunt. If you do another video, any chance I could twist your arm to do a quick demo of the dP audio mode :poke:

Thanks for the videos :beers:

Nice video Bill,if Scott would have made a video of his ghost town hunt, then again that wouldn't have worked there would have been trailers in the back ground from the trailer park.

& also settings. I watched it again. Here's my opinion on why it "jumped" like that.....First off, we were detecting what was the back of an 1800's mill. It was super trashy, & almost hard to isolate good repeatable signals to dig. We almost moved on, but I felt there was old coins mixed in. So here's what we did. I turned the threshold way down to eliminate some chatter, & that also cancels out tiny items that the F75 likes ( say BB's, drops of lead, etc). Turned disc up to nickels, & I also backed sensitivity down to only 40 from the preset 60. I lowered these things to let the child hear only "good" targets, and not so much trash/blips confusion. The F70 also ID's better with a full & faster sweep. I was just kinda wiggling the coil over it as I watched again. Trying to hold the camera & swing perfectly level & fast can be difficult, so i bet I could have got a better lock with more "normal" sensitive settings & having free hands to swing better. Most of the pennies we found had pretty soild "locks" within a number or 2 difference & sweep had alot to do with keeping that "lock" stable. You have to sweep right over center to maintain a solid 1 number lock.
Another possibilty is that it was tilted in the ground at 5 inches, or probably amid some other trash target? There was some other junk that came out with the dime that I think produced the mid tone. I'm not trying to make F70 excuses :) Just offer ideas as to why it read like that. Also, the F70 "up-averages" like the F75 so that too may explain it jumping up into quarter range on a couple sweeps....We should return to this spot with the small white coil & look for more.....
I think I will get a better idea of how the F70 reads this weekend when I go out myself with sensitive settings, & we do side by sides with the T2..
HH,
Bill

Those are some legitimate reasons it might bounce. I know multiple targets can be tough to negotiate. Even when you aren't carrying the camera! (Maybe you need a helmetcam) Anyway, thanks for the post and keep us informed how it performs this weekend. As to hunting trashy areas, I purchased the small elliptical with my F70, when I placed the order last month. So I am anxious to hear what you have to say about it as well. HH Randy

On both the F75/ T2, & now F70 being a slow sweeping CZ-6A man for so many years. Watching it again, I was kinda just wiggling the coil over the dime rather than the full, fast sweep the manual says is best. Folks coming over from whipping motion units like Whites probably will attain nice ID's......
Yes, I really like this coil for size and coverage, but I'm sure for a trashy, iron rich site like that the small white coil will be killer, or even the bigger DD coil might be good in trash as well. Maybe I can round up Alex again & we'll use that same patch to try the small coil in the next video....
HH,
Bill

great strategy bill!..interested in determining if the small "trash" coil will make a difference!..it should!..i used white's equipment for years, and like the fact it isolates targets, and STILL gets great depth too with the faster sweep!..great effort!..thanks!

Just sweep the target past the edge of the coil even if there is more then one target there. You will get a better ID. Since it does move the target ID up that is even a better indication that there is more then one target in the hold. I am glad the F70 is working like the F75. Will be looking for more of those good video's with you and the young man. I really enjoyed that. I love hunting with my Grandson and he loves to go with Grandpa hunting. :D: :D: Thanks Jerry aka Tinfoil
