After much banging my head against the wall trying to make a decision I ordered a Vaquero. Looking forward to its arrival and hope the ground stays thawed.
You won't be sorry...let the bruises heal, now.
Patch up the wall, too.
Had mine since a year ago June, added a F2 as a backup, a Compadre as a specialty unit, but when I need the deepest one that I know I can trust I always turn to my sweet Vaq.
Great going! The Vaquero is an excellent md, I'll say one of the best you can buy, at any price point. Spend time checking out videos on YouTube, and by all means check in to this forum and ask any question you like. There are a lot of very knowledgeable users here who will be glad to help.
Im still trying to get the hang of mine. Used it three times now. Ive been digging a lot of teeny stuff like jeans rivets, and bullet primers. But have got a couple of really good items also.Still having trouble pinpointing. I cant believe the single nine volt battery is still beeping five times. My old eagle would have burned up 8 c cells by now.
You will love your new Vaquero. It is so easy to use and the first time you dig one of those tiny targets from 8 inches down you will see just how sensitive this detector is. It loves nickels and gold and I believe it is one of the best metal detectors on the market no matter the cost. HH.......
Congrats to you on your new machine. I bought a Vaquero just recently and was a bit confused with it on my first outing. I have used it five times now and love it! My pinpointing has greatly improved and I am cutting smaller plugs. I can't believe the depth the V gets and the tiny targets it finds. I have hit three yards so far that I have pounded with my Silver uMax over the years, and at each one I have pulled out deeper coins that I couldn't believe that I had missed.
Scored a nice 1926 SLQ in one yard, a 1907 IH at another, and a war nickel and 5 wheats in the third.
I am so happy that I moved up the scale in the Tesoro line.
Good luck to you,
MM
After using a big store detector as my first unit to introduce myself to the hobby, I wanted something that would go a little deeper and give me a better idea of what I was digging. My first thought was, did I want a VID and spend a lot of money to tell me what I "might" be digging? NO. I wanted some quality and reliability. Also wanted something light weight and simple to use. I started looking at Tesoro line half way through my hunt for a new unit and kept going back to it. After reading and watching You Tube Videos, I like what I saw. Actually, I could reference the videos from my phone when out and about....lol. The ground balance will take some getting use to but from what i have read it is worth it. I also liked the crisp sound when over a target. It is like saying "YEP, A TARGET HERE!" .......Also, the warranty cant be beat. Just hope I will not have to use it.
Now hoping the ground doesn't freeze up before getting it......13 tonight but mid 40's to 50 over the next ten days....wierd weather.
