New V3i today...

Looks like today is my lucky day, I will be picking up my V3i today and will be getting a quick rundown from a good friend of mine who already has his figured out. I have previously only owned beep and dig detectors, which I have really enjoyed, and now it's on to some newer technology with theV3i...I am pretty excited, but beware....I will be back on here to ask a ton of questions! Stay tuned!

I have only had mine for a few days and it is a fun machine for sure. I wish I had a friend close by for some hands on advice. It took me 45 minutes to register the thing after making a few mistakes. Have fun, JIm

Congrads on you new V3i. its going to be somewhat overwhelming at first but at least you have someone close by that can help. Along with him and this forum you will be a expert in no time.
GOOD LUCK and HAPPY HUNTING!!!

Yeah it is good to have him to help me get started with it....for sure. I am technology literate, so hopefully it wont be too painful of a learning curve. I just don't want to be at work right now.....I want to be learning my new machine! Few more hours to wait....I am going to try my old detector on his test bed and see how it performs compared to my new one, that should be interesting.

1 thing that will help you with you learning curve (or at least it did for me) is the little 4x6 coil.
After spending the money for the V3i the last thing you want to hear is that.
I had an Old Fellow tell me that "Work is made for a mule and he turns his butt to it".
So turn your butt to it today an go have some fun.

Welcome to the V3 world John! Good to see you last night! Enjoy the detector, we'll get out soon! :twodetecting:

WTG LittleJone, Its good you have a friend to Help you out, The V is Hot out of the box Get to your Sens and turn the power down, That will help the most right now???
Good Luck John, Mickfin

Congratz LJ, Try not to feel too intimidated with the complexity of this machine. Try using the programs such as the coin and jewelry for starts with a fine adjustment to the RX sensitivity. Try to learn the character of the machine before trying to create custom programs. Make fine adjustments and then work and observe. Try to notice the character changes on these adjustments. See if it made it more stable/productive and make counter adjustments accordingly. Main thing , Enjoy the excitement and adventure. You have a great machine to make those great finds.

First find with it yesterday morning in my front yard was a game token that rang up around 82-83....at 9 inches. I am gonna like this machine, I can tell that already.

spent a couple hours with my son at a local school yard. found a pocket full of change, a button, a bullet and a couple misc pieces of trash. he outhunted me by at least 2 to 1 with his detector, but i am still in learning mode. we had a great time, thats what it all about.

He will out hunt you until you learn the new detector. It is the way it has been and always will be.

he has hisdown to a science....i found targets with mine and asked him to check em with his, then we dug em....he is very accurate with his machine, i just wish he would try the better model I have and get used to it, because it is a deeeeeeeeep machine, similar to the one he has...no screen, no VDI...just a beep and a dig... I just got the sunray DX-1 probe for mine so i will be outy in the morning learning some more about the machine and then seeing how the new probe works for me. I really do like the V3....and have been doing all the reading I can on it. Hope to have some results to show by end of summer.
