New V3I ordered

Should have early next week.

Any way it is coming with the stock coil of course. I want to also order a smaller coil for hunting in really trash/iron infested places. About all that is left in my part of the country.

What do you guys use and why? A coil with good depth, target seperation and id. Hey ant that what everyone wants.

Looked at the Whites 4x6 and the Sef 8x6. Even put some thought into the 6x10.

So before i spend my ard earned retirement funds any advice is greatly appericated.
Thanks

I have the 12x10 SEF, the 8x6 SEF , and I'm thinking about getting a 4x6--some of the sites that I hunt are super trashy(vacant lots where homes once stood, in particularly old parts of town), and I'm getting comfortable enough with the V that I can somewhat begin to tell when a good target is being partially masked when I have the 8x6 on(even though it does have great separation, for coin sized objects amongst loads of trash, I'm guessing smaller is better--at least until I clear out some of the shallower targets).

I'm new to the V3i though, so I'm sure some of the seasoned pros will chime in with more detailed suggestions.

Search coil decisions should be based on the type of mineral environment that you hunt in. If you have low to moderate minerals, then the concentrics are probably the best choice. However, if you hunt in moderate to heavy mineralized ground, then the DD coils will perform better for you. The smaller coils make working in high trash areas much easier.
hope this helps some.
Good luck

Just remember the 6x8 was not designed for the V3i and will not allow max settings. Remember if you talk to 4 guys they will all have their own opinion on which coil to use.

Yep. I can only get my 8x6 up to about Rx 11, tx boost off, before signal loss goes over 30%(in 3 freq.--i haven't played around with single frequency use enough yet to know if it makes a difference here)...I still get pretty deep with it(6"+ coins), and it runs pretty stable at that strength. I got it when I still used the DFX, and just carried it over to the V.

You will be able to run single 2.5 and 7.5 kHz higher, and maybe Rx15.

Thanks for that. No need to spen money on something that may not give top performance.

Thanks to all you guys that replied.
