What would be a quick couple of setting changes that a new user could make to enhance the detectability of an Explorer II right off the bat?...maybe an increase in Gain for example?,,,thanks.

Also if you are getting alot of deep targets that may be just faint signals that repeat from different angles you might want to crank GAIN up 1 notch to 7. This will "bring" them out a bit more in audio. But the higher you crank your gain the harder it is to guess shallow targets from deep ones. You'll find out pretty quick depth gauge accuracy is the Explorers biggest weakness. It judges based on coin size objects, something big may show 2" but actually be 8" or something smnall may be 2" and show 8" etc,.
Good luck Ray and don't go switching settings to rapidly or it will really confuse you. Just stick to PRESETS for awhile and tweek them every now and again 1 tweek at a time. Then you'll understand better what that tweek did.

Greg
