just purchased my first md, garrett gtax 1000 unused condition, powermaster circuitry], hot head 10.5,5x7 eliptical dd, owners manuals, vhs tape. $350.00 .. I bought it after alot of research online it seemed like a great 1st detector for me I live in the 0uter banks of nc and will be primarily using it on the beach. was this a good buy? i looked at the 250 and 350 but it seemed like this md was a step or to up although not in production any longer. any ideas ,suggestions ,input would be appreciated.

Welcome obxsabresfan! Sounds like you got yourself a good starter machine there, that's a bit more than a starter. My best advice to you is if you like the machine, stick with it, it will take some time to get to know it, like any good friend. Every machine has it's own personality and qwerks. Take your time, be patient, dig everything for the first 100 hours of use and use it often. You know there are a lot of great machine out on the market now with a ton of bells and whistles, but you really only need a machine that you are personally comfortable with, like anything you put that machine in the hands of a pro and he will outperform someone who is new and has a top-o-the-line brand x. Garretts in general are great machines but you gotta get to know them. Good luck and HH!

You got a good machine. At one time it was Garrett's top machine. It has a bit of a learning curve so stick with it and learn it well and it will reward you and find anything the current detectors will find.
