New member
it took 3 1/2 months but my buddy finally welded a
handle to the scoop i found in a creek.. the handle is 34 inches
now all i need is open water to try it in ...i cant complain all it
cost was 2 beers and a promise to take him :detecting: when it
gets nice... not a bad deal... the pics are in case anyone has
a scoop and wants to put a handle on it ..I am BORED so i
reread the GTI manual and and also watched the dvd again ..
Im gonna try jewlery mode most of the time sens 6 and
dig all a b and c targets unless they are for sure trash
Just an idea on a cold day in the Burgh

He ran a nice bead but a bit of an angle would have made the scoop much more functional. A few digs will show you what I mean.
Nice to have friends that have tools and the willingness to work cheap. Hang on to him.

Looks good.
Id suggest a welded brace to the back of the scoop to 8 inches up the back of the handle.
When you start prying back it may bend without the brace.

A nice soop at that, Wen you add a Brace to ths Back Like Jole sugglested and a slight angle Like Grover suggjested use a wider Rod if you want you can add a Handle 4R your digging arn at arms Lanth with a slight algle away from you , The Little handle helps with letting your wrist stay strighter with not so much strain on it, And the weight of a big scoop,
Wear not Knocking your scoop???? Its Love from are BIG family, Mickfin

I never consider my pots as being knocked..Heck
thats whay i post em.. to get info..

I like the idea of the bend just playing with it in
the house ( yes im THAT BORED) tells me it
would be easier to scoop that way I also like
Joles idea about the brace

Thanks Guys

It looks like the handle pipe is a bit small in diameter.
I would have the bottom of the handle where it touches the scoop under the handle welded or it is going to twist the handle part back.
A brace like described above is needed also.

You would not think wet sand would put much bind on a scoop but after a few scoops you will realize otherwise.
If you scoop down and then try to pull the handle back without wiggling it side to side a bit first ... it will bend for sure.
You will know exactly what I am talking about first time you use it.

Great info and avise from all
