Hello Dave,

You make me very jealous starting the hobby with a top of the line machine.
My advice is more generic since I use a Fisher F4 and really love it by the way.

You have a "Lamborghini" race car and you'll have to keep it slow in the beginning. I would run the F75 at default setting for many months until you get familiar with swinging it.

Patience is the key...the most common finds are rather junk...nails, pieces of metal. metallic litter. DO NOT GET discouraged! In the beginning concentrate on the shallower finds...nothing will discourage you more than digging down a foot and finding junk.

If you are the "adventurous" type you might try burying some items in your garden (well marked) and practice there.

If you start feeling discouraged...well send me a message and we will trade machines ...the F4 is more simple to use and I'll take good care of the F75 until you are ready to trade it back. What do you say?

Regards from California and HH (happy hunting) Joe

PS: the photo is my ring case...all found in about a year's time

hi joe, before i start i must say your a gentle man, thanks very much for the offer,i will have a play around for a few months and let you know about the swop, thats what i need some encouragement from people like yourself, love your items maybe i will be as lucky one day, hope you and your family are all well, happy hunting.
kind regards dave
p.s will let you know how i get on with my machine.

joe your prob right about learning with a diff machine and i may get one to go with my f75,when i get the chance to get out i will have a play, where are you from joe?

I'm in sunny California. Nice place to hunt 365 days a year.

Seriously the F2 ($200) or for a little more the F4 would be ideal machines to learn on. It took me about 3 months to feel comfortable with the F4 and I had already used a couple other machines. In general most people need about 3 to 6 months to get comfortable with a machine.

Just remember: "Not everything that beeps is Treasure" ... with good location and patience there is good stuff to find. This hobby is really fun and will build your patience. Most summer days I'm at the beach watching the sunset and swinging my detector.

Regards and HH Joe

Turn on your machine..Holding the menu button down and the toggle switch forward.
This puts you in DE mode factory preset.....Use it for the first month at least...Just adjust sens till you are stable.... You will be very happy with the results and the very fast response speed of your F75 to hitting on targets. It may sound unstable at first, but it is not...It is hitting targets in the ground...dig a few and look at your id numbers and the top of screen showing you where it is locked on targets....You can adjust discrimination if you are hitting to many junk items but I would not..Just learn the numbers..
