New to the XT family...need to hear from you relic hunters out there...

You may be right, Horsesoldier. And if you run that coil in Prospecting mode, you should be able to get where the devil and the deep ones lie. I haven't tried prospecting mode for relics or coins, but someone a few posts down has (jtalley007 and he was using the stock 7.5 kHz coil). The 18.75 kHz coil in All Metal should be plenty deep. Welcome to the X-Terra forum. There are a lot of very nice folks on here to help you get acquainted with your X-Terra. So if you have questions, don't hesitate to fire away! You mentioned that you had the 18.75 coil and it seemed to be hotter on relics in airtests..... Which 18.75 coil are you talking about? It comes in 4 shapes and sizes, and all are great coils. But from many of the reports you'll read on here, the 10.5 inch DD at either 7.5 or 18.75 has remarkable depth for both coins and relics. HH Randy

I have had My X-70 an year this X-Mas. So far I very pleased with performance, depth, reliability , and you can hunt all day since it super light weight . The X-70 is very easy to learn an can hunt any soil you may hunt in with only few coils Since I only Relic Hunt , the best settings is in All- Metal with only two tones, one low tone for iron, other higher tone for ever things else. You get super depth and will no miss anything, just hunt slower in trash sites. I stay away from patterns setting thy seem less sen. and slower to give good audio in trashy site ans deep targets. Finally what coil to use or buy . I have both an 9 inch coils 7.5 KHz and 3 KHz. I also have the 5X10 Elli pal 18KHz for bad soil. and final an 10.5DD 7.5. For best depth ground coverage , depth, and can handle most soils the 10.5DD 7.5 has proved to be great Relic Hunting Coil for me thus far. Just take look at my past post all goods finds that i found with X-70 with 10.5DD 7.5 coil , I'm sols on it for sure!! Hope this helps. Chuck:usmc:

I have the 5x10 18.75 and have not really tried it out. When I put the 10.5 7.5 khz on and started digging 3 ringers at 10-12" I was hooked!!!! I use it in open fields to get the ones left behind. A little test I did in the field, I got a signal that was 4 arrows and read a 42 on the ID, called my buddy over with his MXT & 6x10 coil to check the signal out. He got a weak low tone and said that it was Iron. Well, I dug the target while he was there and it was a .54 cal
3 ringer that was at a measured 10" deep. Needless to say I out hunted him that day and the next weekend he had a new X70 with the 10.5 DD coil. In fact I have sold my MXT and hunt with the X70 now. The MXT with the Super 12 could not read these targets either.

please send me your email address and phone if you are in the USA. I just got my XT70, am a relic hunter and am also wondering which accessory coils to get. I am using the stock coil but got the 6" high freq DD with my machine and in air tests and my good target in a wood floor full of nails test it seems to be a great coil. I don't always check the forums so please email me directly at
