I'm just getting started and looking to pick up my first detector. I have narrowed it down to the following:

Garrett Ace 250

Teknetics Delta 4000

Fisher F2

White's CoinMaster Pro

I live on Long Island, NY so I'm looking for something that will work at the local beaches as well as the parks and fields. Just looking for some feedback on what you would get.

Garrett AT Pro or Minelab Explorer

welcome..i havent used any of those units you have listed but from what ive read they all seem to be good units for a beginner as they all have ID,depth indicator i believe...i started out many years ago with a garrett gta-1000 which is kinda simular to the ace-250...it was a great beginner unit ,very easy to use ,light weight, found alot of silver with it...do your research, read reviews on those units, and be patient and learn the machine when you get it...good luck and happy hunting....

From your listed choices #1 ........... Delta 4000

Second choice would be Whites Coinmaster Pro.

If I might suggest.Get a machine with Ground Balance if you can.
Not on your list but would be very helpful to you.

Check out Tesoro's non meter ........

Whites MXT Pro, T2 Teknetics, and or Fishers F75, F70... F5 ( Good detector for reasonable cost) .......AT pro Garrett plus it is a water wader machine too.

Are you in a price range preference ???????

yes get a ground balance machine if you can , and a good pinpointer like the garrett, this will keep you from having to use a back hoe to find the target. and do some testing to get the hang of it love to see your finds shen you get out Gunnar

For a starter I think you with a GB could be a little much, I think a ace250 would be great and a affordable way to go.

Depends on what you are looking for?

I really like the F70 that I recently received.

It is very easy to use, automatic ground balance,
light weight, easy to pinpoint, nice TID screen.

There are fellas on the Fisher F series board
that can also shed some light on the F70.

Not all detectors are good near saltwater, they become erattic.
I would call Kellyco and ask them, they are in Florida and sell a lot of detectors for the beach.
