New to the hobby and looking for tips

So I just got into the hobby and I am interested in some of the best or most profitable places to hunt and some techniques to use. Just got an Ace 350 and wondered how good the pinpoint ability is on it.

Welcome to this great hobby. I would recommend starting out by going to the playgrounds and use the detector to get that modern change. This will allow you to get used to the sound of good targets and work on your pinpointing skills. After that just find a local area that has some age to it to start detecting like an area park or if you know someone that has an old house even better. Just make sure you take out all the trash you uncover, fill in your holes and make it look like you were never there. Best of luck. Come back to this site frequently. It is a great place to learn.

Yes...I was in your boat last year...this site is awesome ! We are all heare to help eachother. You will find things no doubt. Its a great hobby.
Good luck.

The 350 pinpoints very accurately. After you get used to it, you will be able to pop coins out with a probe, and not even have to dig for the shallow ones!
Welcome, and Happy Hunting!

I ran into an old time detectorist on one of my first times out...he took mercy on me when I asked for advice and said "dig 1000 pulltabs, and dig 1000 pennys"
I found two class rings (both returned) that summer, and learned so much about the language of the machine, and all...we are still friends too!

Join a club as they usually have a good library for members and keep your eyes and ear open as one can never learn enough about the hobby..Vist a beach where targets are plentiful and digging is easy dig all and learn the language of your unit..Use only one unit and one brand of earphones till you get your feet on the ground. Time in the field is where its at and watching videos may or may not help depending on the expertise of the fellow doing the video..and above all take time to smell the roses and enjoy the nature in your hunts.
