Hey all,
Started detecting last summer with a Fisher F4. Recently upgraded to an ETrac. Love the new machine! Below is a pic of the first silver coin I've ever found. It's an 1816 Spanish Reale. Of course I was expecting a Rosie or maybe a Merc, but this blew my mind. I've learned a lot by reading this forum and hope to contribute from time to time. Thank you to those who contribute on a regular basis - there's a wealth of knowledge out there. HH!:)

Wow! You sure go all out for a first silver! Congratulations. Mine was actually a war nickel....my first full silver was a '42 Merc. I can take you and point to both spots....you never forget the spot you've unearthed your firsts! Thanks for the great picture.

Incredible first silver-major congrats. I agree with Neb Trac, you'll always remember your
first silver and exactly where you found it. Hunting with an E-Trac will make your coin collection
grow and grow. Happy Hunting!!

that's crazy for a first silver, congratulations!

Great find whether it's your 1st or 500th silver. Ya won't find anything like that around here. My first silver find (many years ago) was actually a double silver - a 1908D Barber half and a dateless Standing Liberty quarter in the same hole. I thought this metal detecting thing was going to be a cinch.

Thanks guys - good stuff! Beginner's luck, huh? You're right, I'll never forget that first silver coin for sure. Have found 6 other silver coins since then. Funny thing is, the three quarters below are all dated 1942. I live near several old towns in NC that were established back in the late 1700's so you never know what to expect out there. E Trac and I are only starting to get to know each other - this could be a dangerous combination!

Spanish Silver ... wow ... a major congrats ! :clapping:

I'd keep hunting that site up - down and sideways - till I left with nothing.
Be sure to swing very slow so your machine has the time to find any deep targets you missed the first time!

Good luck this season ! :detecting:
