Good day! I am new to the forum, and the experience and good information here is great. I really enjoy reading about everyone's finds. I have an X-Terra 705 and am really enjoying this machine. This is my first detector and I've learned a great deal in the couple of months that I've had it. It sure feels like I've become an expert in finding foil and slag, but I can't stand to leave it the ground, just in case...! Digger's eBook was a huge help, and is the best resource I've found for a new guy.

Take care and stay safe,
John

Welcome to the X-TERRA forum John. I appreciate hearing that the information in the eBook was helpful. If you have any specific questions, post them up as there are a LOT of knowledgeable X-TERRA users on this forum who are very willing to share their thoughts, ideas and opinions. Keep digging those pieces of foil as some of them may turn up as gold rings. HH Randy

Thank you Randy. Actually, I read the eBook while I was still shopping around, and I bought the 705 because of it. It was the only serious information from the various manufacturers that was available. I started learning to hunt in all metal/multi tones from the start, and I can't imagine hunting any other way. Thank you very much for your hard work and insights.

John

Welcome! I am new here to trying to learn the X-Terras! Love my Etrac and Explorers but X-Terra line is just as good!

Mudpuppy, the gold in this area is very fine and gold underneath receding glaciers tends to be, in this area anyway, ground into flour. The "gold band" up near 40 Mile and Fairbanks and running east and west across the state seems to be the place to go. However, one must be very carefull to ensure that one doesn't go prospecting on another's claim, which are everywhere! I've always wanted to prospect at one of the famous pay-to-prospect locations like Moore and Gaines Creek, but it was $3000 last year for seven days and will likely be higher next year. Ouch! Thats quite a gamble just in the hope you'll even make your money back (not including airfare). I still dream of it though!
