New to the forum, have a question?

Well first I would like to say hello to everyone. I have learned a great deal on this site in making the choice on this as a hobby. I am going to order an ACE 250 Pro from kellyco detectors and here is the question, I saw in some reviews that the shaft has a lot of wobble in it any truth to this? other than that everyone only had good things to say about it. I am looking forward to some time with my family and something that I can do to enjoy the little time I get to spend away from work.

Oh, the "wobble thing" is back, eh? What's happening there is that it is a slip fit shaft into a tube. A click stop spring button holds things from sliding in or out. A little tape wrapped around the end of the shaft just above the joint will stop the little bit of wobble that is there. Garrett packed a whopping bunch of goodness in that little Ace - a locking collar is a moot point, a minor thing of minor no consequence.

I recall when detectors didnt have locking collars and they worked fine - still do. Id like to see one there on the Ace, but it doesnt stop me from using it. Dont let t stop you.

Thanks Dav thats what i was hoping you would say I'll use the tape have heard far to many good things not to order an ACE:garrett:

Ace 250 owner for almost a year now & the supposed wobble is really a non issue. I've found no need to tape it.

The only wobble problem I seem to have is me:wacko:

A shaft that wobbles isn't really a concern, unless it flops around. If a shaft has no play whatsoever, it tends to get stuck as sand and debris gets in there.

My Ace250 is sitting on the UPS truck and will be here tomorrow morning. This wobble shaft issue seemed to be the major target of the BH poor quality for years now. People using the BHs, just like those of you that like the Ace250, don't seem to be concerned about it either. From the post I see of finds from both brands, it doesn't seem to effect the ability of the machines either.

Depends on the machine you get. Mine has hardly any. It's nothing serious and if it annoys you just shim it with a piece of electrical tape. It's not life threatening. :)
