New to the Forum, and some questions

Good Morning, Forum.

I'm about to buy a Tracker IV from Kellyco, as well as a 4in.Coil, a Vibra-Phone 280, a Vibraprobe 580 and a Lesche Digging Tool.

I've been reading the forum's comments, from Page 70, up to page 40, so far, about the Tracker IV, the 4 in. Coil and the Lesche, but haven't seen anything but one or two passing references to the Vibraprobe 570, the predecessor to the 580, and nothing about the Vibra-Phone 280.

I was thinking that if the Vibraprobe 580 was as effective as it's made out to be, why wouldn't the 280?

Anybody bought a 280?

Any comments for, or against it?

Thanks

I know nothing of them however I do wonder about how the Vibra-Phone 280 works. My detector puts out four different tones, depending upon the nature of the targets. Does the Vibra-Phone 280 put out four different "vibrations" or just one?

Thanks,

Mark

Good Morning, Forum:

Only just now completed reading the posts, from when I last checked in, on Page 40, to now.

Hi, mwaynebennett. Yes, the Vibra-Phone 280 puts out four different "vibrations" , not just one. On Kellyco's main page, kellycodetector.com, you'll see a link, on the lefthand side of the page, for 'metal detector accessories'. Click on it, and an alphabetized list of categories will open. Under 'H', click on 'Headphones'. They're listed, four to a row. Scroll down the page to the fourth row. The 280 is second from the left, next to the Koss KSC75. Hover your cursor over the 280's picture, and a descriptive blurb will appear, mentioning one of its sensitivity adjustments dictates when it'll start vibrating, and the other determines how long the vibrations will pulse, to match your detector's tones. They only need to be set once, to match your detector.

I was thinking there wouldn't be any beeps to attract attention, as Nugget mentioned in one of his early posts, he doesen't like to wear headphones, and likes to be aware of his surroundings, especially as he mentioned, he sometimes works, or worked, the beaches, and the goldfields, when he was on one of his twelve to fourteen hour nightshifts .

The Vibra Probe 580, listed under 'P' for 'Pinpointers & Probes', vibrates too, so there's no beep to draw attention to yourself, so without headphones blocking out sounds, you'd always be aware of what's going on around you.

So, Gang, what say ye?

Thoughts, comments and suggestions are all welcome.

Hi, langsy. I was just over at that same Kellyco website I was telling mwaynebennett about, and, it would appear, you're right. The 4 in. Coil listed under the Bounty Hunter Search Coil category, doesn't mention anything about it being interchangeable with any of Bounty Hunter's other Search Coils. Surprisingly, their 8, and 10.25 in. Coils aren't interchangeable, either. Which, of course, makes all the sense in the book, obviously. Clever people, those Sales Types at Bounty Hunter. If you want a 10.25 in. Coil, or a 4 in., to replace the standard, 8in. Search Coil that came with your metal detector, of course, you would buy another metal detector, stipulating, at the time of purchase, which Search Coil you would prefer. If you wanted all three, you'd buy three detectors.right? Each of which would be a Time Ranger. or Quick Draw, or whichever metal detector you chose. Hmmm... I may have to reconsider even getting into the hobby of metal detecting. It would appear a Titanium American Express Card would be a requisite requirement.

Or at least a wheelbarrow to get all those googobs of money I'd be finding in the tot lots and on the edges of sportsfields, up to the bank so I could afford to buy the equipment. I wonder if Bounty Hunter would accept a dollar down and a dollar a day.

I'll get back to you about that, and let you know.

Until then ...

Later
