New to the forum, and Minelab.. :bouncy:

Howdy folks,
I've been checking out this forum for the past three weeks or so, poking my head in once in a while and asking questions. So I figured that I should introduce myself proper. I'm a proud father of four children, three of which are triplets,( ie.. triplehooked), two horses, two doggies, and have been an avid detectorist for the past three years or so. Ohh yeah, I have a wife, too!! I shocked myself recently when I openly admitted to a bowhuntin' buddy that I like detecting more than bow huntin'! "Gasp!" Anyways, I was dead set on a White's V3i for my next purchase (hope it's ok to say that) up until a month ago when a few fellas on the forum put the Explorer SE bug in my ear.... :look: Well they must know me too well as within a week of solid reading and re-reading posts (thanks Bryce) about this machine, I've made a flip-flop on my choice of detector. That's saying a lot since I've owned and four White's machines!! I got with a sponsor here and he gave me an excellent deal on a new SE. Considering that winter decided to finally show up here in West Mich. It will probably be a bit before I can get out and hunt, but at least I can look forward to reading Andy's book, and by the time the weather breaks I should be a pro, right?! Isn't that how it works? :drinking: Anyways, it looks like a great group of folks here and I look forward to driving most of you nuts with technical questions....like where's the on button, and why doesn't this machine have a trigger....:lmfao:

Travis

triplehooked -- welcome, and thanks for the background! You will like the SE -- I'm confident. But -- don't get frustrated and want to give up on it too early. It takes time to master the "language" of these units, especially if you are coming from another style of detector.

Plenty of silver is in your future, I am certain!

Steve

Hello Travis,
Welcome to the forum. You are in the right place and now have one of the best detectors available! Trust what the machine is telling you, and be willing to dig just to see what you have for a while. I am sure you will like it especially when you dig up about a 9" small cent or dime. Then you will realize just how good the Explorer series is.

Hey, I am down in South West Lower MI; where are you? Maybe we could get together and I can help shorten that learning curve.

HH - BF

Thanks for the welcome, guys. I'm in Lowell, MI. near Grand Rapids. I'd definitely like to get out and hunt with some people, so feel free to let me know where all your old parks and stage stops are! :detecting: j/k I've kind of prewired myself to try and remember to cut my swing speed down. The hardest part for me will be to stay with factory settings for any length of time! I had my XLT for about ....well less than a week before I started a custom program. I'll be wanting to load Bryce's program at about day two and start looking for those seated quarters....lol.

Welcome aboard Travis !

Yes, read Andy's book backward and forward while you are waiting for spring to arrive. It really will help you know how your detector functions before you get it dirty. Looking forward to seeing your finds this season !!

Welcome to the forum Travis. The SE is a great detector and it will serve you well.

welcome aboard...and I much enjoyed our conversation through the messaging system the other evening.

Enjoy the forum and have fun.

As for what we talked about the other evening...well...it is what it is.:bouncy:

Congrats on the SE! It's the best siler slayer out! You have come to the right forum for sure!

Welcome triplehooked, I too decided to go with the SE PRO from reading this forum, being a newbie to detecting, this forum has helped me immensely !

Glad to see you came to explorer side, you won't regret it

PM anytime bro

HH,

Tom

Great choice. I am thoroughtly hooked on Sovs and have had one since they came out. You will love the explorer.

Thanks again for the welcome. I've only found a handfull of Indians and silvers since I've started detecting. My best being a 1901 Barber quarter (I keep looking for an S on that thing...) and an 1884 Indian. My goal is to beat my current total of silver and oldest Indian in one season with the Explorer. I may be optimistic, but I think it can be done. Thanks again!

I am down in Watervliet. That is sort of between St. Joe and South Haven. So we are fairly close. I could take you to those spots you mentioned, but they are hunted out har har. We could meet up half way somewhere and try our luck, if you want. I am ready for spring.

Take care and HH - BF

Travis,
Welcome and congrats on the new machine!
Jon

Sounds good, BF. I'll shoot you a pm once the weather breaks!

Steve- Thanks for the encouragement. You all will be the first to know. I get geeked over a silver rosie....so you'll see the posts!
