Hi Treecheker and welcome to the forum. If you're finding that much clad, you're doing great with that type of hunting. Good job!!!! I'm no pro and far from it. I do like to hunt old homes in hopes to find old coins and relics. When I start out in the yard, I basically 'cherry pick' it. Disc.(Duel Control) turned to 6 and the Gain turned to 7-8. I also hunt in relic mode. High tones are what you want to dig right off the bat. Listen closely, and I do mean closely for those faint whispers of a high tone. That's a good deep target. Do you have headphones? I always hunt with headphones even in the school yards. Go slow, but that's a gimmee'. This is how I do my first "cherry pinking". After doing that a few times at the property I turn the Disc. so I can find those wonderful old nickels and maybe one day that gold coin.
We've got a lot of great folks here and someone is always willing to help out.
Where are you from? Who knows, there might be a buddy close by. The MXT is so easy to use and so very accurate. I wish you the best of luck and I know your father left you some wonderful finds there. A place is NEVER hunted out. HH, Nancy from Illinois
