New to the Etrac, nice find

Well,

After reading all of the success from the Etrac users, I decided to buy one from Bart at Big Boys Hobbies. The detector was shipped quick and pricing and service was excellent. Work has been pretty busy so I haven't got out too much with it yet, found a few wheat pennies and some clad and a gold ring. I had about an hour to look today and just before leaving I got a 01-40 steady signal. I remember reading that this could be a dollar coin so I got a little excited. About 10" down, I pulled out an 1837 Canadian one penny token. Wow, exciting!!!! My question is what is the best way to clean this and any ideas on what something like this would be worth?

Congrats on your new Etrac and first finds. I am ready to join the Etrac community myself and am seriously considering giving Bart a call as well. As far as cleaning your find, if it's copper, I would lay it on a moist towel and pick in the crevices with a moist toothpick until all of the dirt is removed. Then, I would go over it with a Q Tip and baking soda.

Congrats on the find and welcome to the Etrac forum as far as cleaning it, it's according to the metal what to clean it with.

Great picture and a really neat looking find! Thanks for sharing and welcome aboard!

Put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide in a microwave safe dish and pop it in the microwave for about 40 seconds or until it boils. Take it out and drop the coin in for a few minutes (it will fizz like crazy) take it out (don't burn your fingers) rub it between your fingers and use a round toothpick the rub the tough stuff off. Great way to clean Indians.
