Hi Andy, Bill here! Try this for parks... Switch in ALL METAL, Disc at Max, Notch off, Sens in Auto, Volume all the way open, set threshold so you can barely hear it, then flip switch to Disc and it will all go quiet (make sure you are not over a target when you set up. This is a quick way to hear mostly good targets and it build your confidence when you dig 80% or more good targets. Shoot me an email if you have any questions, the Sov sounds harder than it is, really! Totally different set of rules for the beach though, you want to dig everything there. The problem for most people when they first use the Sov, is that they try to find old stuff right off the bat. Rick in ND is about as good as they come, but he spent many hours doing the simple stuff first to learn his Sov. Do the simple hunt that I just outlined at a grassy part and you will be grinning ear to ear with how simple it is to find almost nothing but dimes and quarters. You even stumble over a large silver ring, but you are just trying to prove to yourself what the tones of good targets sound like. With practice, you can start experimenting and distinguishing the different tones of various coins , etc. Do that test and let meknow how it went. Remember swing the Sov slowly, low to the ground (brush the grass). Good luck,
Bill
