New to the E-Trac forum

Well-known member
I just ordered a new E-Trac today, should have it in a few days.

I started detecting way back in the 70's running a White's 5000D, I got into the Fishers in the 90's and mixed in a few Tesoro's along the way. Since I retired in 2010 I have been running the Fisher F75Ltd that I had upgraded with new DST and I still have that machine. I mostly hunt the older silver coins and inland jewelry.

So today I just started a new chapter in detecting with the coming E-Trac.

So I am kind of wonder how life with the E-Trac will be. Can I expect more deeper silver than ever before?

Hope to post some good finds here in few weeks, but between now and then I would guess it will be questions.

You will love it take it low and slow don't rush get used to the tones as they are different, dig all signals in the beginning and read Andy Sabischs book, its a great one. Also go on youtube.

You will be amazed................ Hunt all your old sites..
Look up Goes4ever's settings. They should work very well in your area.

I found that Goes4ever site, I would say his settings should work pretty good for me, he is located just a little north of me.

It's looking like I got big learning curve ahead of me, back to school at 69.

Yes indeed you will find a lot of silver with the Etrac I killed it first year with mine from large cents, seated, barbras, and tons more silver for me
And my first $5.00 gold half eagle I can't say enough about the Etrac !!!!I also have a new Deus I love too....
No one machine finds all so I will use Etrac in a spot then Deus I always find more doing this trick!

You guys got me pretty excited about this detector.

Richard at Backwoods is shipping it today so I don't think I will have it until next week.

Etrac find! My half eagle..that should make you excited to hunt with your Etrac

I think you're in big trouble and doubt you're going to find anything but rusty nails with it. Big trouble ,,,you're going to be praying you get a high tone so you can put it down and dig something to give your shoulder a break. Start looking now for a swing aid ,,,one with a hydraulic assist preferably because you're going to think someone attached a cinder block to the end of the shaft. You're hearing is going to go into shock hearing "in color" for the first time and the eye strain from trying to see that screen in sunlight will be maddening , maddening I tell you!! Don't even unbox it , send it to your brother.:)

Awe who looks at the screen ??? lol just listen

Ok so above is one dissatisfied user. There will always be a few of those no matter how good a product is. I love mine and am happy as can be with it and have made some amazing finds. Your satisfaction I think will depend on your technical skills...computer'ish and detecting....and your patience. If you have some of both you will be super happy as most of us are.

Well said like I stated I barely look at my screen I go mostly by sound it took me about months and I was making some incredible finds I bought my Etrac used and have logged a lot of hours on it.
The only reason I bought a Deus was for my tennis elbow so I give the Etrac a break when my elbow is feeling the added weight oh and one other piece of advise get the new RNB battery it makes a world of difference!

I would expect that one of the first things I will do is rig the E-Trac for my home made sling system. I have 3 other detectors the F75, Tejon, and Vaquero and all are rigged for the sling. Some times even on the little Vaquero I think the sling is not doing much until I forget to hook up after a dig. A few swings not hooked to the sling and I am hooking back up.

I think with the sling rig I will be able to handle the weight of the E-Trac, but I may need to get another finds pouch for all that silver.LOL I think I OD on E-Trac videos last night.

The E-Trac is on the way and we are planning a hunt for tomorrow so I guess it will be the last one for the F75 before retirement.

Just in case you really do need another pouch, I just got the Whites Signature Series digging pouch and really like it. They are on Ebay for 28.95 and free shipping. If you haven't already, be sure to watch the "dirt fishing" videos on You Tube. He has the best E-Trac videos out there IMO.

Hate to tell you this but looking at your present detectors you are going in a new direction. Just imagine how it is going to be to never worry about a Ground Balance again. You chose a good Dealer as well Richard is good people

I don't much of anything about the E-Trac, I was watching one of those youtube videos last night and they were talking about settings, and at one point he was talking doing ground balance but it was dead of winter and he would need to be outside.

When I get the detector and manual I will read through that and get started on this new direction in detecting.

There is no such thing as GB on an Etrac. You can perform a Noise Cancel which picks the most clear frequency to operate but most of us already know that certain channels work best in our area here it is 4 or 5

Well that is okay with me. I am like a sponge right now taking everything in.

Thanks daddyflea,

Is this the correct title? 1V_B401 The Minelab Explorer & E-Trac Handbook we haven't found a Kindle version yet. The one my wife was looking up was either hard or paper back.

Just let me know if we are on the right trail and we will order it.

Thanks

New E-Trac should be here Monday or Tuesday. Hunting today with my F75, may be it's retirement hunt.
