New to Tesoro

Hey everyone, I decided to become a real detectorist and listen to what is there instead of relying on a TID! I just purchased a Golden umax from Richard at Backwoods detectors, a sponsor on this site, and picked it up on my vacation. I must give Richard a five star rating, he was certainly a pleasure to do business with, friendly, knowledgeable and just a super nice guy! I do however have a bit of a learning curve. Any tips or tricks you may have with this detector will be greatly appreciated.

I have 5 detectors with the Golden being the least expensive and the most used. Love my Golden.

give it some time & you will learn its language
when i notch i set mine just below the preset on the main discriminator
& the notch just where it chatters on a square pulltab but still gives a good signal on a nickle about 11 oclock
this setting should give you 75% of the rings & 90% less trash
good targets should give you a solid repeatable signal
