Hello,
My son and I are new to detecting and this forum, we look forward to hearing about peoples hunts and finds
and also learning technique.
We had our first hunts last year using a friends Garrett AT Pro, we had a blast and got hooked, it's it the blood now.

This is my 15th year of detecting and this year one of my oldest boys (45) wanted to get into the hobby. I bought 2 AT Pros and we are having a ball. It's sure nice to have a diggin partner after 14 years of mostly hunting alone !. I have 8 detectors most of which cost as least twice as much as the AT Pro but I'm VERY impressed with the AT Pro and have used it for all my hunting so far this year.
Keep us all informed about your finds etc. and jump in with any questions you have. If you happen to buy a AT Pro there is a separate forum just below this one with tons of info on the AT Pro.

Good Hunting

Hi WichKan, Welcome aboard. I'm in my third year of detecting with my Ace 250 and I gotta say, (and not just my opinion) that the 250 is a great place to start if you have a budget that won't quite reach the AT Pro. (I.d love to have one, but.....). Happy Hunting and get your camera dusted off so you can send pics. We'r e a pretty easy crowd to please...a short message and some pictures every once in awile and we're content.

Good luck with your AT Pro.
What part of the world are you in, or what State if here in the US?
Salida.

Salida, I am in Wichita, KS, you said "good luck with your AT pro" you must have read the post under mine,
I wish I had an ATpro from what I have read they look like great detectors.
If I had the money I am pretty sure I would go with the ATpro.

welcome
as stated earlier the ace 250 is a very budget friendly machine. I have an excal that I hunt the water with but my wife gave me an ace 250 2 yrs ago and I love it. My oldest 2 coins were found with the ace are 1832 half dime and 1889 dime. This is a great place to learn the hobby, HH
