Start with the Official Records of the Civil War and the Atlas that goes with the O.R.s..........

Brian, I don't live too far from you. Actually your neck of the woods is part of my work territory. Send me a PM and I will give you my phone number and I will see if I can help you. But the OR's mentioned above are about the best, however TN has a website that breaks out the activity in our area.

I do a lot of reading at the local library , there is a lot of good info on the internet also, ask some old folks about local history. GOOD LUCK!!

Brain,

I am in Madison County and am always researching for great sites. Might I suggest the community of Juno in western Henderson County. There was civil war action as well as it being an old community. I have never hunted there, a little far for me and I don't know anybody in that area. If your neighborhood is in the eastern part of the county that is where Forrest captured a couple of cannons as he raided West Tenn before Parker's Crossing. Representative Steve McDaniel might help you get started when the House lets out.

All that being said, start out close to home. Practice with your detector where a lot of people congregated and the older the better.
