New to prospecting any info will help.

Hello all, i have been detecting for some time now with an older radio shack detector, mostly for fun. i recently decided to take it a little more seriously. So, having read allot of posts from many of the forums, i purchased an explorer II. I love it!!! It is quite a machine. I cant help but be drawn to prospecting though. Coin shooting is very rewarding for me, but i am certain that i would get pretty excited to find any size of nugget! So if anyone can give any advise as to the type, or brand of gold detector that would be good for starting out in such a venture it would be appreciated. I have done some research on the subject, but just want to know what most of you are using with success. Thanks in advance, Ben

Finding nuggets is the best form of metal detecting in my opinion, you might want to look into a Minelab Eureka Gold for a good VLF machine. If you are real serious about it then one of the Minelab GP's or SD's is probably the best choice and they are Pulse Induction detectors. Whites GMT is a good one and so is the Fisher Gold Bug and Tesoro Lobo. Join a local chapter of GPAA and they will help you to find the nearest spot to get some golden goodies.
Good luck,
-Joe
