how do you know you are on someones claim if the is a marker what does it look like

If there is a marker which should be on all 4 corners of the claim is should be a 4x4 post and may have a film canister or somy type of jar on it holding the claim papers. Hopefully if you travel thru a claim it would be marked on the road way that you are entering a federal mining claim. If you see any kind of a post usually white go check it out to see if it is marked.
Of course all of this could or could not be there as there are those that will tear down claim markers. If you are unsure but you know where you want to go. Go the the local BLM office and ask for assistance at the site you want to visit
