Got a Minelab Explorer XS about a week ago, unfortunately we have 12" snow on ground. Came with the manual so been doing a lot of reading and air testing. Think I am going to like it!!

I would be interested in hearing how you like it compared to the T2. Have you been using a T2 very long? The Explorer goes deep and it's pretty good on separation but not as good as the Tek machines. The 2D disc/id will give you much more information about whether to dig or not. When you get to know it please tell us how it compares.

Have had the T2 for about a year and really like it! Have found more silver coins with it than any other detector and I have been detecting on and off for about 15 years. Thought I would give the Explorer a try and see if it will go deeper. I detect with a friend who has the Etrac and seems like he gets deeper targets, but have to admit I out do him in total over all finds with my T2! The T2 is definitely a keeper. Way too much snow to get out right now but will be posting my progress as soon as I can.

Been using mine for about 9 years, absolutely love it. Thinking about adding an SE Pro to my arsenal, but someone'll have to pry my XS out of my dead hand to take it away from me. Found a Pine Tree Shilling with it!

May I make a recommendation? Check out Bryce's coil review and strongly consider an SEF 10 x 12 coil. I have found crazy amounts of coins with it, that I missed with my XS and the stock coil.

Good luck and please post your finds. As an XS user, I'm looking forward to seeing what you find.
