New to Metal Detecting and question?

Darrel

New member
I am just getting started in Metal Detecting. UPS is scheduled to deliver my MXT tomorrow afternoon. Am I excited? I have been hinting to my spouse for detector for Christmas for over twenty years and took things into my own hands. I'm kinda glad she didn't cause it forced me to do research and get a quality detector. I will get coupon with the detector that for a 100 bucks, I get to choose a search coil and other items. Which of the Whites coils offered woul be best for Gold Prospecting? Thanks ahead time for your respones.

Darrel

Welcome to the MXT Forum Darrel and big congratulations on your new MXT purchase. I'm sure some of the grand gold prospectors here can give you some advise or just look at the past posts. Many posts on what different coils are needed, liked and so forth. HH and I wish you the best of luck, Nancy

If you want a great coil for gold prospecting then you really need the 6 X 10 DD, But since they aren't offering it with the special I would ether get the 10 D2, or the 5.3 I hear they both will do good in the mineralized soils that you run into in the gold fields. I don't use ether one because I don't have them, but I can say that the 6 X 10 DD is my favorite gold coil. MXT + 6 X 10 DD = GMT. good luck :whites::thumbup:

GO WITH THE 10 D2 :clapping:

Darrel, I agree with Bob that the 10x6 would have been the best choice, but they are not offering it in the current special. Soooo..... then go with the 10"DD, or the 6x4 "Shooter." Nice thing about the Shooter is that it does really well in tight spots, and excells in coin hunting in trashy sites. Hope this helps; HH jim

I live in Australia and detect the Victorian Golden Triangle fields. Even though the 5.3 Eclipse is touted by Whites themselves as just a coin coil I believe it should also get recognition as a Gold detecting coil as well. I use it around reef/primary deposit areas (gold in quartz) and it kills the other coils for sensitivity on specimen gold as well as depth on that gold type. I like the 10x6 DD as it quietens down the bad mineralisation and am just about to try out the new D2 over here in the next couple of days.
Check out what the 5.3 can do...coin coil?????

Darrel, the thing is that for your $100.00 coupon you need to get the best deal you can now the 10 D2 it will cancel out mineral soils well enough to hunt gold and would cost you $249.95 to purchase by its self, it would only cost you $152.95 for a 6 X 10 DD eclipse or $126.95 to purchase the 4 X 6 eclipse shooter or 5.3 eclipse. So the way I see it the 10 D2 would be the better deal out of all the coils offered, you could always pick one of the other coils up at a later date. Hope this helps, the name of the game is save money but get the most coils for every situation.:whites::thumbup:

The MXT is a great prospecting Machine no matter what coil you use.
