New to MDing and forum

I am new to this forum and will soon be new to Mding. I just got an email from the on-line vendor that I order a ACE 250 Metal Detector from. It was shipped out today.
I enjoy reading all of the post that people place on the forum and hope that I will be placing pics and stories here soon.

Does anyone have any advice for someone new?

Learn that ace 250 and enjoy it. Welcome to the site. Ive had an ace 250 for about a month and still learning new thing it can do. Watch the video on pinpointing that one of the members has. It will save you a lot of headaches. Again welcome and good luck.

I have a 250 and made my first hunt today other than my yard and I owe all my finds to this forum. They are the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet,and every one of them can teach you more than the cd and books can. Do like I did and read all the way back cause this forum is all about Garrett's. Welcome to wonderful world of detecting

Just take your time and start out slowly by hunting in your own yard to get the hang of it. Welcome to a very rewarding hobby. Looking forward to seeing your first finds.

It is worth repeating to keep the sensitivity somewhat lower when you start. Around 4 bars on the Ace 250 is what UW recommends. Practice pinpointing. You will be digging some big holes to start so pick someplace where you can't do too much damage. Sand or barkchips are goodspots. Do not start in the All Metal mode. I would recommend coin mode and when you get better jewelry or even relic mode in certain spots. Read the archives some rainy day. It's all been covered very recently.
