Hello Forum,

First about the name! My wife and father-in-law poke fun at me with knee pads, headphones, gloves and claim that I look like I am Geiger Counting....so there you go! I have been lurking for about a year as I bought an AT Pro last Christmas and have been using when I can for the past year. Your advice, comments, and jokes are great!

Interestingly, I have found tons of coins, but ZERO silver coins. I have found 7 silver rings and ZERO gold rings. Need to hunt older locations I guess.

I did find a bunch of pennies under a tree in Florida last summer. There were about 300 scattered around a huge tree just below the surface in a park.

What a great hobby!

Looking forward to seeing your first silver coin!

Hi Geiger, I've been hopping around differant forums (alot of people are posting there finds for the year) I see alot of posts reporting that they have found this many silver rings and other jewelry but no gold rings or other gold jewelry. I'll tell you what I foolishly did. I still don't know why or what got into my head, but I thought for some unknown reason that I would find nothing good under the 50 notch. so I notched out every thing under 50. I was finding silver rings and pendents but no gold. I got to thinking about this and was asking my self why no gold. If the areas I was hunting was producing silver jewelry why not gold. Then I seemed to remember some one posting some numbers for gold at one time. I thought I had stuck that post in my favorites. Sure enough it was there. It showed alot of gold showing up in the 40s tid wise. I thought holy smokes no wonder I am missing out on the gold. So I started only notching out iron ( I only notch out up to 25 or 30 when relic hunting). to make a long story short I have found several gold chains 2 surface finds and one that hit around 40. I also found 2 gold rings in the next couple of weeks. I ended up with 5 gold rings 3 coming in at 47 solid, and one coming in at a bouncy 45,46,47,. the 5th ring rang in at 59,60. I thought it was going to be a a square/rectangle pull tab but it turned out to be a nice 1971 gold class ring. I try to dig all those pull tab signals, but some times after digging a couple billion pull tabs it gets frustrating and I start letting some go. but that's where the gold is. Anyway, welcome to the forum. There is some great info, tips etc here, but then you know that already. best of luck to you!!

Research will pay off...Go to your main Library and find old maps that show where houses, hotels, train tracks and depots, and mills and such were...Also if you have any beaches that will let ya hunt...GET in that water...that is where you will find the most gold...
