Hi, I'm new here and had a quick question. I am currently using a Classic ID. I am considering getting an MXT. Will I be happy and increase my finds? Also, should I get the 12" spider coil or will the older 9" coil be sufficient? Thanks for letting me pick your brains.

Welcome to the forum. The MXT is a great machine but no guarantees on finding alot more. You have to learn the machine the best you can. As far as the coils.....I, myself, wouldn't use either. My two #1 favorites are the 4" X 7" Shooter and the 5.3" Eclipse. I've seen alot of neutral comments on the stock coil and I have never tried the 12" so it isn't fair for me to comment on it. I'll pick up finds up to around 8 inches. I don't tend to go any deeper since I'm not dragging a back hoe around with me.... You'll get alot of different opinions....including mine. Bottom line.....read the past pages of the MXT forum and read the ones that deal with the particular questions that you might have. There is alot of experience in here dealing with pretty much every imaginable soil condition. Take notes and you'll come up with the system that fits you best. Good luck and happy hunting..............

I still have a Classic ID and an IDX Pro, but they have pretty much been relegated to the corner. The MXT may not increase your finds other than deeper finds but will allow you to spend your time more wisely deciding what to dig increasing the quality of your finds. Now if you are a dig everything person because you don't mind digging a thousand pull tabs and foil to find a gold ring then you may want to stick with the Classic ID. I only dig everything on a relic hunt or old places. Also, the number one coil you should get first in my opinion is the 6X10 DD, after that, the 4X6 DD.

Took the plunge. I got my MXT the other day. I no sooner broke the seal on the box and it started raining. I guess someone was trying to tell me to watch the video and read the manual before I start using it. So I did. I did get out for a few minutes yesterday and found a few pennies and a tire weight. Hopefully today will bring sunshine and good finds.

ROB,YOUR OPINION ON THE M-6& PRISM V VS MXT FOR SIMPLICITY AND DEPTH. I DO NOT RELIC OR NUGGET HUNT. THANK YOU.
