hi, my name is tim and I bought my mxt last year. have't really done any real hunting with it because of my work. i was wondering why the machine is noisey. am i doing something wrong. let me know. thanks. oh i forgot iam from hutchinson kansas

Welcome to the site.... There are a great bunch of guys on this forum as well as the rest of the site that are willing to share a wealth of knowledge with you.............................
There are a number of factors that can cause noise but probably the number one reason is sensitivity.... Running it too high will do it BUT I purposely use a loud MXT.... I have found that the louder they are, the "hotter" they are... I have had MXT's that would be "as quite as a mouse" and I have had them that were very loud... I run the Sens. at max. and what that does is increase the audio to where targets right on the edge of the audiable range become very loud and clear...took a while to get use to but it is very rewarding....
