New to Forum Hi everybody Garrett 1350

I've already got some good advice paging through these forums. I found 15 silver coins or rings since i started about 4 months ago. My dad got me into it plus ive been collecting silver for a couple years now. Maybe 30 or so wheat pennies. 1 gold cross and one coffee can cache with kindergardners wishes in it from 1967. It was fun finding and opening that one. My Garrett 1350 has been easy to use. Do rechargable batteries affect the performance? I am also having trouble recognizing quarters consistantly. I always find more quarters using my dads machines. Last night i buried some quarters in the garden including a silver one at different depths. My batteries were on there last legs and i couldn't find the silver one i buried at 8 inches. I bought some high end rechargables and a recharger. Hopefully ill find it today. My dad had a good laugh when i told him that. Well i figure ive been finding silver about 1 out of three times i go out ( 2-3 hours per time). Trying to hone in on my skills. Ill try and post some pics as i go. Lately ive been getting out 3 times a week. Ive really gotten hooked. Nice to meet everyone. Nate WI

Welcome to the groupe Nate.

Rechargeables are good and work just fine. If I'm not mistaken, the 1350 even has a setting for selecting the battery type (ONLY so that the battery life indicator is more accurate). Performance won't change.

The only down side to rechargeables is that their charge will bleed off after several weeks of sitting idle. So if you use your detector often and recharge regularly you are in good shape. If you only use the detector occasionally and it sits idle for weeks on end, Alkalines are a better choice since they have a huge shelf life and the detector will always be ready to go.

I agree with all said. My 1350 works great with rechargables. I juice them up right before a hunt, and they will go for days.

WELCOME, JONGALT:

My only experience with rechargeables was 9 Volters in a Bounty Hunter, and they were NiCads. Got about 3-4 hours:surrender:.

NiMh's are better, particularly in AA's and the reports you're getting are quite true. With the 1350, I'd say get them; they'll save you money.

I have an Ace 250, requiring only four AA's, so haven't gone to rechargeables yet. Discussing this with Santa, tho:clapping:

No photo can be larger than 120kb . All of my pictures on the kodak easyshare are 800-1000 kb. How do i go about posting pics???

That GTP 1350 is one hot machine once you learn it. It loves silver, as I found lots last year using mine. You may not get that silver quarter at 8" if it was freshly buried. Deep coins can be picked up by detectors because they build up a halo over time, and detectors just love to lock on to those. Rechargeable batteries work just fine. That's all I ever use.

Looking forward to seeing some of your finds.

Hey Jon, Welcome.
The 1350 is a fantastic machine, I didn't like how I had to press the pinpoint button constantly to make sure that the detector was in the discriminate made and not the profiling mode with the chirpy sizing audio. However that machine will go deep and find you what you seek if you pass it but. I like the last mode option on the GTA And The GTP. I will run in jewelry mode and switch over to all metal to check for iron trash and iffy/iron coin targets. I also like the audio tone id system. Sometimes I wont look at the screen and just go by the Low-tone, med-tone, and bell-tone to help id trash and treasure. Make sure when you get to the battery icon in the menu settings make sure the battery word is rechargeable and it is not slashing.
Good luck have fun you have a capable machine.

Put a set of alkalines in and see if you notice a difference. Rechargeables don't put out as much juice as an alkaline and even less when they are low. Freshly buried coins are often difficult to detect regardless of type of batteries. I field tested the 1350 prototype and the production model and they had no trouble detecting quarters at better than eight inches.
