New to the forum and wanted to say hi to all.

I have been using the DFX for the past 8-9 months with great results. Better results with the super 12 coil. Seems like the silver coins range from 6.5 - 8.5 inches in depth here. For me, the stock coil depth is about 5.5 inches. The 12 coil adds about 2 to 2.5 inches in depth. I will admit that the DFX was frustrating at first. I tried tone ID on then went back to tone ID off. I currently like tone ID off better than on for some reason.
Thanks for all the input from fellow DFX lovers. Looking forward to 2008 and a few more silver coins!!

Welcome to the forum. I got a question for you, where do you use to hunt? Is the soil there high mineralized? I just bought the eclipse 1400DD, probable will be delivered on next wednesday and i want to have some idea how both perform, super 12 and 1400DD. Just to feel bad in the case i didn't buy the best one for my soil.

Hi Jerry welcome...glad to have you.

Jerry I also have had depth problems with dfx...I am going to load up a few new programs soon...as soon as I can hunt again that is... I get deeper hits with my 5.3 coil than the stock...up to 6.5 I recently received a new stock coil from White's hopefully it works better than the first one....also welcome to the forum stop in the dfx classroom forum...

Gregg,
Yes, I will stop in the DFX classroom forum. Hopefully I will be able to share some photos of my finds. It will be interesting to see if your new coil works better than the old.
I have to admitt that I have tried lots of programs. Since I mostly hunt for coins, I have been sticking to the stock coin program with a few altered settings. PAG-4 with increase in sens. 80/50 if tolerable........and Ratchet PinP off. I have also lowered the sweep speed setting.
Of course, I am no pro.....just learning as I go I guess. Trying to get the best depth possible.
It is frustrating to find one silver coin in a great area (1920's fairgrounds) and then nothing else. The coin was a silver quarter at 8 inches and I KNOW there are more there!!! Don't think I am getting the reliable depth to find the coins though. I will keep trying. Looking forward to 2008! Jerry
