New to forum! Have question about DFX 300

Hello all! First all thanks to all of you for such a wonderful website!
I have been metal detecting for a few years now and can say that I am very addicted to this wonderful hobby. I own two metal detectors. The Whites Classic 2 and a Bounty Hunter. I purchased the Bounty hunter on Ebay because it said that the coil is submersible. But sorry to say that I am not that impressed with the Bounty Hunter. I am on the other hand very impressed with my Whites!
I love my Whites classic 2 but want to purchase a newer model and am considering buying the DFX 300.
My question is....is the DFX 300 coil submersible. I understand that they sell metal detectors that are fully submersible but I was wanting to get one that I could use to just wade a few feet into the Great lakes with.
Any and all input will be greatly appreciated!

If you treat every coil as if its not even when they are you will never go wrong. By this I mean with every machine I own , regardless of waterproof coil or not, I will seal up around the lead/coil point with good silastic to make double sure. Over time things wear, including seals. I used to work in a prospecting supply shop, still do but a different one now, where repairs were carried out. Now and then we had water damaged coils in for repair from all the different manufacturers, Minelab, Garrett, Whites etc, nothing to do with who's seals were better.
Pays to make sure yourself in the long run.
On my gold hunting detectors I also wrap it a few turns with a good waterproof tape. Never had a prob in 17 years from water damage by doing this.
Mates who never seal up have.

I use this coil water hunting its fine!! if you have these types of questions you should call Whites....forums are not the best place to get this kind of info!!

Putting some simple silastic around the coil cable area near the coil will void a warranty???? Damn, I better not put any tape around the coil and skid plate then or tape to stop dust enetering the housing in dusty enviroments then my detector will be worthless.
