New to Forum/First day finds

Recently a relative gave me a Bounty Hunter Land Star that they received as a gift and could never figure out how to use. I experimented in my yard for about a week and have been reading this forum (thanks for the info) and took it out for my first hunt beyond my house. I went to a small lake in the Sierras above Fresno and searched an area about as big as a kitchen. First day out and I found $.30 though nothing was old. 80's & 90's pennies along with a 2007 penny and quarter. Junk finds were a couple of lures, a toy car, a Remington shell, a nail, a couple of bottle caps, and an odd plastic ball found near a piece of metal. I was out about an hour and quit due to mosquitoes, but can't wait to go back and get the hand of it. Thanks for all the info.

Welcome to the forum Mark, there is a lot of great finds waiting for us all. I hope you enjoy the hobby as many of us do and good luck.

Good show Mark. Next time you go out, shove a "Bounce" from the laundry, in your pocket. When you see the little flyers coming at you, rub the bounce all over you exposed flesh. Bye Mosquitoes! By ther way, where'd you go detecting at?

Welcome to a wonderful forum and a truly great hobby. The more you hunt, the more you will learn and more and better recoveries you will find. HH jim tn

Kerckhoff lake on the San Joaquin River. Picked it because it's generally quiet, no speed boats. There are a few spots where people pull off and play at the water's edge.

Also, I realized I meant to say fishing weights nout lures.

Hello from Prescott Arizona. Gee you are going to learn a lot with this great hobby. I started back in the late 60's up to about 1979 then took a 25 year haitus and now back into it. I hope you have a ball finding all those weird and wonderful objects that you will encounter. You will find this site a very friendly and informative one Papa
