Hello guys. This is the first forum I've ever joined. Today I just ordered my first Tesoro and I'm looking forward to learning a new machine. Hopefully I can learn how to use this forum also. Everyone seems to be very helpful. All the information I got from this site helped with my decision to purchase a Tesoro, even though my buddys question my decision. Hope it all works out.

Welcome - you are correct. This forum is filled with helpful users that try to answer any questions that may come up.

welcome, Tesoro's are not for everyone, but for those of us that use them as a primary machine which I do, and i have other brands. You may find the same for yourself. I think they put the fun back in metal detecting and are a pleasure to use. { simple and light }. good luck with your outlaw I think you will like it a lot. some great u tube vids on it also.

Welcome aboard bonecrusher!
I'll bet you're gonna love that outlaw, great machine, as are all Tesoros.
I am also new to the brand, and really love my Cibola.
Good luck and happy hunting!

Bonecrusher, I owned the outlaw & it is a great detector , especially for parks , & sports fields. keep a slower sweep speed, and it will het with a more refined sound, my favorite coils , are the 8" concentric in mild ground , it has good depth & is an excellent pinpointing coil , also if the ground gets mineralized, the 7" DD is really good also the 10x12DD that coil i liked to use in all metal in the ball field as it ignores small Iron junk & foils if you keep your threshold turned to about 11.00 in the threshold all metal but it will hit hard on rings or pull tabs for now I can't get to those spots so i got the deeper vaquero for relic hunting but i can tell you if you gave me the choice of what i would bring to a sports field, the outlaw would be my choice. every time we all look forward to your digs. Gunnar

Thank you kaolinwaher. Hope to get the Outlaw this coming week. Your information will certainly help. Can't wait to try it out.

I am and have been a very devoted white's guy, but find comfort in knowing that i am not alone in my curiousity of other brands.I have ordered a comparde in my quest to find gold fillings:unsure:

I have the Outlaw. It works just fine for me. The "all metal/no motion" is great for measuring the size of the target. The discrimination and separation is great with the Tesoros. Learn the detector but also learn to read the ground. Research the site to try to determine if the terrain has been altered. Look at the layers of soil/rock when you are digging. Watch for rocks that are not indigenous to the search area. Learn the basics of the detector. For example, the larger coil will see LARGER objects deeper but may not see the smaller more shallow targets. Larger DD coils tend to be more affected by ground mineralization than widescans. That's a few things, but most importantly, have fun. Don't let the Scmucks who tote their $2500.00 machines as being superior, bother you. Trust me, most of them haven't a clue how to use them. I'm talking about those who seem to have to brag about their machines. There are people with expensive machines who do quite well. They aren't the ones who have to knock another person's detector or skill for that matter. I know I'm not going to get rich detecting, but I do have my special brand of entertainment. After my detecting buddy works an area with his White's MXT, I go in and clean up what he missed; just to annoy him.:bouncy: BTW, I've had two MXT's - great machine.
