New to forum and MDing

First off, Hi to all!

Just got my BH Tracker IV for Christmas. I am new to MDing and decided to go out and get my new toy zeroed in. Spent the last couple of days of my leave in my hometown hitting tot lots and some public beaches on a lake. As you can see the coins I seemed to get in on pretty good. The first day I hit on the Sterling Silver ring at a tot lot. The belt buckle is a mystery to me, have looked up the only patent number on it and it was for the clasping device and was dated Dec 13, 1928. I know that it isn't that old but was impressed with the find at almost 11 inches down. The only thing in the pics that has me befuzzeled though is the rock or whatever it is that I found, it just about blew the headset off my ears with the solid tone. One gentleman that was walking with me was a science teacher and said that it could be a meteorite. Has anyone else ever found something like this?

Happy hunting to all

:usmc: Thank You for your service. Enjoyed much the look at your finds and hope we will be privileged to view more in the future and a chance to read of your experiences. Thanks for sharing.

I don't have the Tracker IV but you will find many here who do. Blessings on you, swing the dickens out of your new machine.:detecting:

About 8 or 10 years ago I was down at the local lake with a small BFO (Beat Frequency Oscillator) hand wand type metal detector poking around the dock when a particular "rock" make the detector squeal. I brought the artifact home and washed it off and checked it with a magnet and sure enough, a magnet sticks to it. After reading your initiating post on this thread, I decided to test the artifact with my Elite 2200 and my BH Jr. Holy Cow. neither reacted in even the slightest way to the "rock." I made sure the Elite was in all metal mode which should allow it to react to ferrous items. Not in this case. I have always thought it was a piece of iron ore, however there are no iron deposits near my local. It could be a piece of iron ore that was dropped by someone but why won't it register on either of my BH machines?

I am stymied.

Way to go G8r:thumbup:, I bet the MDing bug bit you hard with your finds. Was the knife operational maybe after a clean up ??? looks like it didn't have any rust... Nice ring also...
Continued good luck:detecting:

The knife was rusted on the other side but not to bad. The only thing that was not op was the corkscrew. I am going to use it as one of my future tools to help remind me to keep on looking.

Yes, the bug has truely bitten hard.
