If anyone can tell me anything about this detector please do, good or bad. I have three other detectors, but have always wanted to try a Fisher so now i have one to try. Thanks much Dean

Well I guss no one knows anything about this detector. A lot of readers and no help, I guss i am on my own with this one. I know they was not out long, but would have though someone had used this detector. Thanks anyway, Dean

There is some good stuff available. Just do a search for the Excel and you will pull up some good info.
Check out Lost Treasure's site for the field tests.
Good Luck,
Mike

Hi Dean,

What would you like to know about the Excel(by the way, one of my favorite detectors)? If you do a search using my screen name and restrict it to this forum you will find a lot of posts on the Excel. It is a terrific detector in iron even with the 8 inch coil. It is not a depth demon, but will embarrass many of the newer Fisher(FT) product by displaying several admirable qualities:

1. Excellent discrimination with very little iron breakthrough.
2. Quiet.....you don't have to live with chatter to get any depth.
3. The display will show the ID's of targets that are discriminated out in real time. This is a great help in working in iron as you can quickly distinguish what little iron falsing there is by determining it's the outer edge of an iron target.
4. Light weight.
5. Breaks down real small.

Anyway the Excel is a great detector....if they had ever made a 6 inch coil for it....well....Oh Lawd!

P.S. And the reason you are not getting much in responses is that many of the older Fisher Users have been driven off the Fisher forums by being attacked by the employees of FT and their toadies, as they would like to see the older Fisher products dead, gone, & buried.

Thanks BarnacleBill, That was all i was wanting, a little info.At first i though no one had ever used one, I always though Fisher was a very good detector. I have never used one, here they are good. I bought one, hope it is a good one, if not i will sell it. Looks like Fisher would like for the older one to be used, then people would upgrade. Sometimes company's need to think outside the box. Thanks much Dean

Dean,I used a ID Excel about four years ago.Very good nickle hunter.Better depth than a clad detector.I found silver dimes at 5-6 inches with mine.Pinpointing a little slow.I liked the Excel better than the Edge or Coinstrike.Very user friendly a great metal detector.Good Luck Ron
