New to Finds and to detecting

Hello all, I am newer to the MD world and to new Finds. I've lurked this page for about a month, and figured it was time to post. I live in SW PA, and am really starting to enjoy MDing. I only have a cheaper bounty hunter, but am wanting to upgrade really soon in the near future. Being blessed with the "gift of gab", I talked my way into what I would call a great permission this past weekend. I've done an enormous amount of homework, map overlayments, colonial reading, and tax record search. Lets just say it has connections to Gen. Braddock, specifically one of Col. Thomas Dunbar's 48th Foot Regiment encampment (not in PA). I wasn't able to find anything of any significance, just a couple square head nails and old beer cans. The property I was on is quite large (over 500 acres), and I'm sure I wasn't in the right spot, but there's always next time. I'm now in the middle of attempting to locate exact copies of orderly books, and aide-de-camp sketches, to better locate this encampments exact spot on the property. I'm having a tough time, due to the rolling terrain and trying to imagine 500-700 tents, wagons, and artillery, seems like it would either be really cramped or entirely much larger than I imagined. Anyway, I figured my first post should be a decent one. HH to all.
