New to Excalibur...Threshold question

Question... My machines threshold sounds Very smooth in Disc mode but not as smooth in AM..It seems a little less stable regardless of setting adjustments...Is this considered normal??????

Yes!

Mosquito hum the Threshold, a touch louder if windy and/or crummy headphones. Crank Sensitivity as high as you can without losing stability (too high Thresh can do it too). DISC and AM do not always hold the same and may need an adjustment for peak efficiency.
Nothing helps more than experience! Hang in there! You won't regret it!

The threshold also affects volume of targets. I set mine in disc AUTO when turning on the machine....... hit it close to the scoop to get that weakest tone for adjustment then back into PP just out of auto. the higher the threshold the more minerals you will hear...... and get that swooooch sound when moving in the water. Ive found i like a bit more threshold when using PP than disc. I like a very weak threshold buzz in disc...... it allows targets to break thru. NOTHING will improve your hunting better than a good pair of headphones.
