Hi I am new to the detecting hobby. I bought a slightly used Excalibur. I want to do underwater and land detecting. I have tried it 3 times. The ground was frozen but did find some things. Junk really but am learning.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I am watching this forum and others.
I live near a old canal area from the 1840's and hope to find some good items.
thx Vince

Vince, welcome to the sport! I am a newbie also. These guys will get you through any questions you have. The canal you mentioned would'nt be the D&H in New York would it? Anyway! Good luck!

Welcome to the hobby Vince!

good luck bud...........the excaliber is a great unit, it may take some time to fully understand every nuiance but it will be a fun time, I wish you much sucess and plenty of good finds , welcome aboard.

Hello Vince, I would highly recommend the new book by cjc on the Excal. It is very informative and a must read. Simply send him a PM and he will get a copy out to you. GH

If you look, you will see that Vince Frodl posted way back in feb 2005.

I tried to send him a PM, but his user name does not appear. I'm afraid ole Vince has moved on. Too bad, because I live in an Ohio canal town also, and I wanted to see what he had found
