Dear Friends,
I'm new to treasure hunting and I find it exciting and I love being outside. I recently purchased a Fisher Coin Strike and have been fortunate to find pennies, dimes, and a couple of quarters Recently I went to a site and I would get a reading of 35-40 than it would go to -26 or -30 real quickly. What's this caused by? and I did find some iron pieces. Maybe the soil had to many minerals, I just don't know.
I also purchased the Automax Precision V2 Pinpointer from KellyCo for $35.00.. Although I received a good deal on this pinpointer it seems you need to right next to the target. Does anybody else have this device and how effecient has it been for them? Or what better pinpointers' are there that you can recommend?
Could someone please give me advice on different settings on the Fisher Coin Strike for different areas ie. parks, construction sites, beach areas, ghost towns etc.?
I would apprecitate any additional advice that would benefit me in this endevour of treasure hunter like books or other websites.
Thank you for this forum and advice and God Bless everyone.

I have only used my C$ for about 8hrs now.I did dig a childs wagon wheel at about 14inches,pop cans down about 12inches.I have dug about 12 dollars in clad so far.I was at a site last night and I got a solid 51,dont use pinpoint so I dont know how deep,I dug about 8inches with nothing, going back after vacation to see whats there.Any ideas anyone what this means?I have never had a hit above 34,the 51 will hit hard and it dont drop off like a can or cap would.
I wish I could help you out.The only thing I can say is go out and play.
Thank you

Well you've already found a few coins so you should be on your way. Also, you described finding some iron that went negative. This is exactly what is supposed to happen. Coins & other goodies should "lock" on number-wise & stay positive from every sweep angle. You'll notice iron junk will go negative after you check it from a couple different angles (it may be positive on initial sweep). If I see a negative reading I move on. Dig all positives & you can't go wrong. With the C$, checking targets from a different sweep is very important to determine if it's worth digging or not. Did you say you were using the preset settings? If so, many feel that's "too hot" for beginners. Everyone here knows what settings I'm going to suggest.......sensitivity 5 threshold -25 (Or 525 for short). Dropping that threshold will make your C$ more stable (or even -30, -35). Also, make sure your disc is up to 99 so the only iron you might dig is like a big horseshoe or something. I've never used that particular pinpointer, but yes many probes like that you need to kinda poke/rake into your dug dirt & actually touch the object. I like SunRay onboard probes, but right now there's not one for the C$ (Yet:) I use a "VibraProbe" with my C$ which is good too.
There's a Coin$trike web page I will link below & a tips guide there that may help as well....any questions, this is the place
good luck, Bill

Just wanted to make a comment about the Automax Precision V2. I have one and the way I use it is I turn it on to either the audio or the vibrate mode and turn the sensitivity adjustment knob to the left just till it gives the vibratory or auditory alert. Then I turn the knob back to the right until the alert stops again. I find by making these adjustments I can sometimes pinpoint a shallow undug coin up to about an inch away.
Hope this helps.
It works great for me.

I also own an Automax Precision V2 pinpointer. I adjust the sensitivity briefly each time I use it by turning it on to the vibrate or audio mode and turning the senistivity knob to the left until it begins to alert with either an auditory or vibratory response. Then I turn the sensitivity knob back to the right just until the response goes back off. I find that by doing this I can get up to about an inch of depth on a coin sized target. If you are not getting this kind of performance you might have low batteries or a dud.
Hope this helps. I really get good performance from this probe using the above technique.

DUH!!! Sent two messages regarding the probe, thinking I had sent the first to "computer never never land". Just proving that I really am new to the forum!!
