i just recently got a new v and hadn't really time to go out and work with it yet. i played with it a little in my yard. my son has a gti 1500 and has been using it for about a year now. he wanted to use the v today while i had to work and couldn't go with him.(he is 15) i told him how to ground balance it and how to supertune it. now i am no expert with it myself, i just read the manuel and played with it a little. my son is use to a id screen with imaging for a long time so i didn't think he would really do any good with the v. he called me on his cell and said he just found a indian head nickel (1913). i couldn't believe it! he does know detecting, and has some experience, we hunt alot. i thought that was pretty good for the first time he ever used a non id machine. he found it in old church yard, we hunt them alot. the first thing he does when he gets to and old church is try to find clues as to where the people used the yard back 100 yrs ago. i was kind of shock the first time he did that, he is a better detectorist than i thought.

The V is a can do machine. Deep, sensative, light and quality.

It's hard to beat. Your boy will let you use his 1500, but you just lost your V.lol

now what i would get for it would be 5.75 concentric coil for it. it will allow you to pick thru trashy area's and pinpoint allot easier.get a good set a head phones, and make yourself a test garden. i'm a believer in the test garden. last but not least have fun with your son.
