ive had tesoro`s since they were a heavy all metal box. they were never as stable as others ive used but still have one (de leon) in the lineup. i am oporating at 10 khz. the vaquro and tejon are at 14 and 17 respectively. my question is is that if i were to use one of these newer units would i notice less chatter then my de leon? or would i have any advantage by getting a newer unit? thanks for any comments.

Hey, Zman. I've also asked the same questions that you have about Tesoros. I still have and use my golden sabre plus bought in 1989 new. It's still the best discriminator and coin/nickel/gold machine I've ever used, better than all the Fishers, whites, and garretts I've used. Tesoro's golden sabre II bought in 1999 was a real letdown for me, got poor depth and lousy audio. I sold it off cheap (was happy to get rid of it) and swore never to buy from Tesoro again. I haven't bought a tesoro since, but with the new line, I might be willing to give them a try once again, if I was sure that the new units are better or at least as good as my golden sabre plus. I was considering the golden umax, since sites I hunt are too trashy for the tejon's non-target id discriminator I feel.
